DNLL...

From their web site…

Deltic 9000 Locomotives Ltd to cease trading
On Thursday June 10th 2004, it was decided at a board meeting of Deltic 9000 Locomotives Ltd, that the company could no longer continue to trade due to the financial problems it is currently facing.
The length of time taken to resolve compensation issues connected with the fire on 9016 at Loughborough in 1999, coupled with legal action being taken against the company by the Devon Diesel Society, and other creditors no longer willing to wait to be paid, has led DNLL to put the company into voluntary liquidation.
It is believed that this is the best way forward for the creditors and shareholders of DNLL, and for the future of D9000 "Royal Scots Grey". Receivers are being appointed, and D9000 will be put up for sale in due course. Privately owned Class 50 No. 50050 "Fearless" will now pass to the care of the D400 Fund.

Proposed road movements…
The following proposed road movements have been reported elsewhere. These are unconfirmed but a guess as to what locomotives are being moved is in brackets.

CF Booth Rotherham to the K&ESR, Class 73 (73136)

Glasgow works to Thornaby, Class 20 (unknown)
Peak Rail to the Battlefield line, Class 73 (one from 73105 73107 or 73114)

47308 and the other ghosts in the machine…
Following the de-registration of 47308 which was cut up in March a survey reveals that the following scrapped locomotives are still on the system…

31174 HNRS, cut July 2001 HNRC at Kingsbury

10/06/04
37405 (WKAD) is back into traffic following attention at Thornaby. It was back on the Arriva S&C job today.
37515 (HNRS) has been released from repairs at Brush Loughborough and has presumably been returned to Barrow Hill whilst 37516 (WNTR) has been moved up from Peterborough to Doncaster Carr. 37675 (WNTR) had moved to Temple Mills on the 8th as suspected.
73128 bound for preservation on the Chasewater Railway has been removed from Booth’s Rotherham.

Disposal…
The cutting of 37225 at Rotherham has been completed, only its frame dumped on the ground was left of it today. 47291 has been moved up into position for scrapping and will be followed by 73131 which has been positioned behind the 47 to await processing. 37225 was stored from Toton’s WKMS pool in April 1999, RIP.

Power Cars…
Crewe works bound 43099 (SBXL) and 43102 (IMRL) were to have moved from Longsight to Crewe today but their transfer got cancelled. It has been established that 43121 (IMRL) and 43194 (SBXL) also at Longsight are awaiting transfer to Bicester where 43065 43067 43080 and 43084 (all ICCS) are currently languishing off lease awaiting transfer to store.
Not previously noted is that NR yellow 43154 (QCAR) has been at Derby Etches Park for about a week following release from repairs at Neville Hill.

IANA 90s…
The seven IANA Class 90s, 90003 90004 90005 90006 90007 90011 and 90012, are now formally allocated to Norwich as opposed to Willesden.

09/06/04
37675 (WNTR) left Hither Green yesterday under its own power, probably to Temple Mills.
92034 (WNTR) which has been languishing at Wembley for the last few days has now moved north to Crewe EMD.

56078…
Now painted grey with narrow red and blue sole bar stripes and Fertis logo’s 56078 which has been hidden away inside the paint shop at Toton was extracted to the main shed yesterday. Fertis are a French infrastructure company who are in negotiation with EWS with a view to hiring up to 40 locomotives, understood to be Class 56s and Class 58s although Class 37s haven‘t been ruled out, to work on the, to be constructed, LGV-EAST Paris to Strasbourg line. Although the hire arrangements have not yet been finalised it is understood that contractual proceedings are at a very advanced stage. The pre-emptive repainting of 56078 in Fertis colours was to have been a surprise for the Fertis people hence details not being released until today.

Thornaby 37s…
37372 (WNTR) and 37673 (WNXX) have been moved across to the front of the main shed, 37372 is due to undergo a B exam. 37405 is languishing out of use on site, its failure currently being covered by 37042 on the Arriva S&C diagram.

Eastleigh shunter notes…
Not previously recorded is that 08510 (WSXX) has been located in Eastleigh yard as opposed to Eastleigh depot since storage in March whilst 08765 (WNTR) which was active in the Eastleigh area since storage has now been stopped in Eastleigh yard. 08826 usually to be found on the East Somerset Railway was noted on the M27 near Portsmouth earlier today.

73s…
It has been established that the K&ESR are expecting to have 73136 on site for their mid July gala, removal from Booth’s Rotherham is expected to take place shortly. This being the case it is therefore assumed that 73110 is the ED destined for the Churnet Valley Railway.

08/06/04
08757 (WNTR) latterly in store at Bescot has been moved by road to Swindon. 08499 (WSWR) and 08994 (WNTR) currently at Swindon are to be moved by road to Margam in due course.
37037 has left Barrow Hill for the South Devon Railway.
37895 (WNTR) was hauled north from Didcot to Bescot yesterday evening whilst 60071 (WNTR) has been moved up to Thornaby from Doncaster.
47786 (WNXX) is inside the servicing shed at Warrington, its nameplates (Roy Castle OBE) were in the process of being removed yesterday.

07/06/04
47283 recently delivered to Kingsbury was still on its low loader this morning.
56006 (WNSS) which is thought to be Barrow Hill bound has been removed from the NRM to Doncaster.

Class 37 reduction…
EWS have reduced their Class 37 fleet by six examples, all being transferred to WNTR. The six stored are 37516 (Peterborough but awaiting transfer) 37675 (Hither Green) 37694 (Temple Mills) 37893 (Willesden Brent but awaiting transfer) 37895 (Didcot) and 37896 (Temple Mills). This reduction leaves EWS with but 28 Class 37s in traffic, none of which are from the 37/7 sub class.

Two more 60s stored…
Although it seemed as if 60071 was reprieved it, along with 60095, has been stored, both have gone WNTR. 60071 was last recorded at Doncaster Railport whilst 60095 is at Thornaby.

06/06/04
08698 (WNTR) which had seen use following storage has been retired to Toton depot whilst 08784 (WNTR) has arrived at Doncaster Carr from Tinsley.
56059 and 56071 (both WNTR) have been returned to Healey Mills from Knottingley swapping places with 47793 56051 56070 and 56133 (all WNTR) which have been moved up to Knottingley for de-fuelling from Healey Mills.

A correction…
Wires crossed, well it had been a long day, in the report about 56078 yesterday, France not Spain, is where it is headed. Further details to be released on the 9th.

05/06/04

37225…
The demolition of 37225 is well underway at Booth’s Rotherham.

47798…
Following the formal hand over of 47798 to the NRM it has been removed from the storage lists.

56078…
‘Cincuenta seis cero siete ocho’ it is (that’s supposedly Spanish for 56078) but although the new colour scheme of 56078, currently tucked away inside the paint shop at Toton, is known about, nothing more is going to be said pending finalisation of proceedings in a few days time.

Anglia Cans…
Although it was planned to reduce the AR Class 86 fleet in mid May this didn’t materialise, the IANA Class 86 fleet remains 12 strong, however, neither 86215 or 86260 have worked for the last three weeks and both are to be found dumped with 86209 alongside Norwich Crown Point depot.

Power car convoy…
Further to yesterday’s report of the four HST power cars (43099 43102 43121 and 43194) being despatched from Neville Hill it has been established that (interestingly) they were bound for Crewe works. The convoy didn’t make it though, being terminated at Longsight. As far as is known they are still there.

04/06/04 22:45
08413 has been sold and removed from Booth’s Rotherham. Its derelict remains were last noted heading north onto the M1 at Junction 34 yesterday.
37895 and 37896 (both WKAD) have been assigned for B ONE at Bescot and Temple Mills respectively on the 7th. The removal from traffic of these two and 37893 also assigned for store will render the Class 37/7 sub fleet obsolete. Other candidates for the bin include recently reinstated 37516 and 37675.

04/06/04 19:45
08578 (WSXX) latterly located at Knottingley before being removed by road on the 27th of May has turned up at Bescot.
47283 has completed its move to Kingsbury by road from Carlisle. It was noted heading south on the M6 near Keele last night.

Power cars on the move…
Four power cars running as a coupled convoy consisting of 43121 (ICCP) 43099 (SBXL) 43194 (SBXL) and 43102 (IMRL) left Neville Hill for the Crewe area this morning. It is quite likely they are ultimately Bicester bound. Meanwhile 43067 and 43084 (both ICCS) made the ECS run from Laira to Bicester today.

More EWS Class 37s for store…
Besides 37893 being assigned for store it has been indicated that a fleet reduction of about six examples is planned to take place in the next week or so. For those Class 37s currently stored but receiving attention / exams with a view to being returned to use it is understood that, in the main, these are merely being prepared early for this autumn’s sandite requirement.

03/06/04 23:45
37372 at Thornaby and 37712 at Doncaster Carr (both WNTR) have been authorised to receive B exams but 37893 (WKAD) has been assigned for B ONE at Warrington on the 7th.
43065 and 43080 (both ICCS) ran from Plymouth Laira to MoD Bicester today for store. More to follow.
47750 (WHCD) which has been suffering loss of oil problems lately disgraced itself this morning failing at Chester with the late morning inbound service from Holyhead.
60002 at Toton and 60098 (both WNTR) moved from Thornaby to Immingham today are both on repair so a return to use is in the pipeline. 60071 has been reprieved, its assignment for N ONE has been cancelled, but it is to be stopped for wheelset attention. The assignment for N ONE for 60095 still stands though.

03/06/04 07:00
47732 (WNTR) was also removed from Healey Mills to Knottingley with 56059 and 56071 the other day.
47813 (IWLA) is staying on lease with FGW for the time being as 57603 is to go back to Brush Loughborough for attention.
73129 (WNZX) has, as had been suspected, arrived at MoD Ashchurch.

Healey Mills 02/06/04…

Row 1, 10 locomotives, all waiting their turn to visit Knottingley for de-fuelling etc. 56069 56038 56056 56065 47733 47734 56070 56051 47793 and 56133.
Row 2, 17 locomotives, all de-fuelled etc. 37708 08665 56093 58032 58040 58035 56115 56060 56094 56053 56055 56072 56113 56119 56081 56095 and 47790.

On its own in the middle of the yard is 47475 whilst 56091 is on its own towards the footbridge. The eight WZFF Class 58s awaiting removal to Eastleigh are together in the middle yard: 58006 58018 58011 58010 58007 58012 58027 and 58004.

02/06/04 21:10

More Class 60s for store…
60071 and 60095 have been assigned for N ONE at Thornaby on the 6th.

Eastleigh Bones…
Following on from the resurrection of 58034 (WNXX) attention has turned to 58015 (WNXX) which has been returned to running order and has been on the load bank.
It has been indicated that up to eight further Class 58s are to be moved to Eastleigh from ‘up north’ in the next week or so. These will more than likely be the eight WZFF allocated Class 58s (58004 58006 58007 58010 58011 58012 58018 and 58027) currently located at Healey Mills.

Booth’s Rotherham…
The three Class 56s recently delivered, 56050 56075 and 56130, along with the three Class 73s generally regarded as being the worst of the bunch bought from EWS , 73106 73108 and 73131, have been moved from into the top yard joining 08413 08610 31146 37225 and 47291 which are awaiting cutting. 73110 73128 73133 and 73136 remain in the bottom yard with 56003. Of these 56003 and 73128 have been positioned near the gate which may indicate that collection and removal from the site is pending.

02/06/04 08:35
08818 whose last recorded location was Calvert has been stored HNRS.
09001 latterly stored at Tavistock Junction has been reinstated to the WSAW pool displacing 08941 to WSGW which in turn has allowed for the storage, to WNTR, of 08995, the last of the sub class in service, at Margam.
47283 is on the move again. Last located at Carlisle Upperby following removal from MoD Smalmstown it was noted two days ago at Killington Lake services on the M6 near Tebay. There have been problems with its transport and as a result it is still there today. It is assumed that 47283 is en route to Kingsbury for disposal.
60002 (WNTR) is now released from Brush Loughborough having been moved to Toton where it was observed yesterday.
73101 (WNZX) has been removed from hither Green by road, noted heading west on the M4 last night, to the Dean Forest Railway and preservation. The whereabouts of 73129, removed from Booth’s Rotherham last week by road, is still unclear although it has been suggested that it is / was destined for the MoD base at Ashchurch.
86426 and 86430, the last two 86/4s in service, have been stored, both WNXX at Crewe EMD.
92007 at Crewe EMD has been reinstated to the WTAE pool but remains out of use at Crewe. It replaces, or will be replacing, 92034 which, although still in traffic, has been transferred to WNTR.

01/06/04
47750 and 47787 (both WHCD) have returned to traffic following their brief sojourn on the scrap line at Warrington over the weekend.
47790 and 56095 (both WNTR) have been moved to Healey Mills from Knottingley exchanging places with 56059 and 56071 (also both WNTR) which have been moved from Healey Mills to Knottingley.
87027 (IWCA) has been returned to use on WCML diagrams.
