if worked by a single 86 rather than in pairs. More 86/5s or a new sub class
altogether...?

Locomotives. They have been named Rebecca and Demelza respectively. 47727 and
47749 are due out on test tomorrow with a run from Eastleigh to Bristol and
back.
EWS 60s...
60046 has been reinstated from store at Toton, to pool WCBI, swapping places
with 60040 which has been stored at Toton. Initially 60040 was transferred to
WNTR but was later reallocated to WNTS with several other Class 60s, see EWS
pool notes below...
Grid 6...
56006 (now WNXX) was collected from Barrow Hill and transferred today to Worksop
by 66220. 56006 is to be on show at an event at a power station, possibly
Ratcliffe, this weekend.
On the road...
47784 (WNSO) has been transported over from Crewe EMD to Hull's at Rotherham. It
was extracted from Crewe on the now repaired transport that had earlier been to
Langley Mill for attention with 92017 aboard. 56022 (MRLS) has been removed from
Immingham Railfreight Terminal to the Weardale Railway whilst 86232 (SAXL) has
been brought south from Deanside Transit, noted heading south on the M6 near
Carlisle late afternoon on the 18th, to Brush Traction at Loughborough. It would
appear that DRS have rekindled their interest in electric traction.
Carnforth returnee...
47787 (MBDL) has been returned to use with WCRC following attention at
Carnforth. 47787 is retaining its current identity, as are any further 47/7
returnees to use by WCRC, even though it could have been renumbered back to
47823 in the same way that 47792 was returned to its former identity of 47804
when it was reinstated to use some weeks ago.
Work in progress...
At Thompson's, Stockton the cutting of 08792 is underway.
EWS pool changes...
Besides the usual shuffles around the operating pool and WFMU EWS have had a bit
of a sort out with some of the stored locomotives and their relevant
allocations...
All of the stored Class 37s that had been allocated to
the WZKF Foreign Contracts pool, the WNTA Sandite Pool and the various WNTR and
WNTS pools have, apart from a handful, been reallocated to en masse WNXX. No
Class 37s are now allocated to WNTR but 37401 37411 37419 and 37425 along with
(curiously still) HNRC's 37704 are allocated to WNTS.
Aside from the WZGF and WZTS Foreign Contract contingent all the remaining
stored EWS Class 56s have been reallocated to WNXX from WNTS or WNSS.
Quite a number of stored Class 60s latterly allocated to the WNTR pool have been
reallocated to WNTS, it may be deduced that the remaining WNTR allocated
examples are deemed to be the better pick of the bunch. The Class 60s remaining
allocated to WNTR are 60004 60010 60023 60036 60042 60051 60058 60079 60093 and
60094, the others are all now allocated to the WNTS pool.
67008 joins long term demics 67010 and 67024 in the WNTS allocation leaving just
bio fuel modified 67030 in the WNTR pool.
Four stored Class 90s, 90030 90033 90037 and 90040, have been reallocated back
to WNTR from WNTS, the forthcoming increased requirement for the type on the
ECML no doubt an influencing factor, leaving just the burnt out and heavily
cannibalised 90050 allocated to the WNTS pool.
92035 has been also been reallocated to WNTR from WNTS so consequently all the
stored EWS Class 92s are now allocated to the WNTR pool only.
TTLS...
The Traditional Traction TTLS allocation has been expanded with several Class
08s and Class 20s being reallocated to it from MBDL. Interestingly these and
earlier reallocations to TTLS have been reallocated to WA which now appears to
represent Wishaw as well as Warrington Arpley. 08927 has arrived at Wembley for
tyre turning swapping places with 08881 which has been returned to Goodman's at
Sutton Coldfield (Wishaw).
Eurosheds...
66064 has been returned to France following wheelset modifications at Eastleigh
exchanging places in the program with 66229 which is back in the UK, at
Eastleigh for attention. 66205 and 66236 have been despatched abroad but 66190
has been returned to Toton.
MTU...
43036 (EFPC) has been hauled to Brush Traction at Loughborough for
re-engineering.
|
16/09/07 |
Tug notes...
60042 and 60079 (both WNTR) have been moved out from Immingham for exams /
repairs, 60042 to Warrington, 60079 to Margam, with a view to being returned to
use. 60046 (WNTR) went from Toton to Bescot on the 8th for a B exam being
returned to Toton in convoy on the 14th with 66222 (WBEN) which was on its way
back to Toton from France.
Seco acquire another Class 47...?
It has been indicated that 47739 at Kingsbury has been / is to be added to the
Seco fleet.
47810...
Whilst heading back to Ashford yesterday evening with 47813 with a charter
working 47810 (CRRH) suffered a traction motor fire in the Rugby area and the
fire brigade attended. 47810 was still dumped at Rugby today awaiting removal
and assessment.
|
15/09/07 |
08897...
Following repairs and some cosmetic attention, hand painted unbranded EWS, at
Warrington 08897 (WNTR) has been returned to active use at Warrington and is set
to work alongside current yard pilot; 08389. Whether official reinstatement will
follow remains to be seen...
|
14/09/07 |
60012 & 60013...
Having completed its transfer from Thornaby to Toton on the 11th via a stop over
at Doncaster 60012 has now been reinstated to the WFMU pool from WNTS. 60012 is
another returning to use after a long term period in store having been out since
November 2005 although it did see use as s super shunter at Thornaby / Tees a
few weeks ago. Making way for the return of 60012 is 60013 which is now stored

with 37351, 37520 (WNSO) was extracted by road yesterday afternoon and has,
following an overnight transfer north, been deposited at Thomson's, Stockton.
92017...
Although reported being transferred by road from Doncaster to Crewe on the 10th
92017 (WTAE) is still on the road being noted on a trailer on the M1 yesterday
evening en route to Heanor's yard at Langley Mill. It is understood there is a
problem with the transport.
MBED...
A new pool coded MBED (Private Owner Class 73) has been set up and 73129 has
been reallocated to it from MBDL thus solving the quandary as to whether private
owner electro-diesels should be allocated to the MBDL (diesel) pool or the MBEL
(electric) pool.
MTU...
43149 (EFPC) has been noted in service following re-commissioning at Landore.
|

On the road...

90011, 47703
was in the vicinity but was unavailable, the train later being taken forward by
66569.
MTU...
43150 (EFPC) was taken to Brush Traction yesterday for re-engineering swapping
places with 43191 (EFPC) which has been released. Oddly 31454 (MRLO) vice the

Brush by 47810.

with a special working from Crewe to Nuneaton and back, a training run with
Serco representatives / staff on board. Besides the ongoing speculation about
Serco, DRS traction and the MoD contract it has been indicated that the 57s
acquired by DRS are to be put to use on some Serco operated Network Rail test
formations, utilising the DBSO driving trailer no doubt, currently operated by
pairs of DRS 37/6s in push pull mode.

GC Route learner...
37038 (XHNC) has today again been out on the North East area Grand Central
training runs and looks set to continue in this role for the remainder of the
week.
Shunter on the road...
Latterly located on the down holding sidings adjacent to Crewe DMD 08535 (MOLS)
has, noted traversing the M1 this afternoon en route by road, been relocated to
RMS Locotec, Wakefield. 08350, this one had been
parked with 08535 at Crewe, has also been removed by road and has been transported to the Midland Railway Centre.
Disposals...
As far as can be ascertained the scrapping of 08414 at Kingsbury was carried out
towards the end of August whilst up at Thomson's the cutting of 08894 has been
undertaken. 08414 was stored during July 1999 from the EWOC pool at Old Oak
Common whilst 08894 was stored from Crewe Diesel and the LWSP pool back in
August 1998, RIP.
Sale off...
It's looking like the earlier reported re-sale of 47488 has fallen through
therefore ownership remains with EMR.
MTU...
43192 (EFPC) has been delivered to Brush Traction for re-engineering being
hauled up from Gloucester to Loughborough by 47810 late afternoon.

Long Marston / Kingsbury / HNRC
notes...
Almost a year to the day it left Kingsbury the shell 37220 is back at Kingsbury,
being deposited there yesterday, following transfer over from Long Marston by
road. Two other locomotives with transfers out from Long Marston in the pipeline
are 37170 (HNRS) which is to go to Barrow Hill for overhaul and 56128 which has
been sold to a private buyer. HNRC have purchased 08695 currently residing at
Thomson's, Stockton. 08695 was at one point subject to potential move into
preservation on the Chasewater Railway but now Barrow Hill beckons, probably
after 08502 is released, and a return to operational status is on the cards.
47759 secured for use with
Seco-Rail...?
Apparently so.
GC Tractor jolly, sorry route
learner...
Grand Central route learners are back on using DRS traction albeit within the
North East area only. 37038 was turned out yesterday and is expected to
undertake today's trips based on Darlington. Selected timings for today's
