66406 - 66410 and these booked
paths to Gloucester...
Although another path is understood to have been put in place for the transfer
of a 66 from Glasgow to Gloucester on the 3rd further enquiries reveal that only

1992, and 56043, stored from Immingham and WGAN January 2000, have been disposed

Eastleigh 100...
A little something
on behalf of Railway Magazine and the organisers of the Eastleigh 100 open
weekend event in May.
D3255 and the Colne Valley
Railway...
Further to the previous entries regarding D3255 and its apparent sale for scrap it has
been advised that news of its potential demise has generated a certain amount of
interest in the
machine, also that other options were already being explored, and it is understood that its future is currently being re-evaluated. It
has also been advised that the more desperate side of the hobby has reared its
ugly head again prompting the following from the Colne Valley Railway which I
have been asked to pass on via these pages...
"Please could you put a note on your respective sites
that the Colne Valley Railway office cannot provide any information about the
future of Traditional Tractions Class 08 fleet. The Traditional Traction 08s are
at the Colne Valley Railway as part of a commercial storage arrangement only and
are not part of the regular fleet.
The Colne Valley Railway is closed until Saturday March 21st 2009.
The office today has been inundated with calls from so called enthusiasts
demanding to know more, in some cases abusively. This will affect our ability to
provide Colne Valley Railway information in the future. The Colne Valley Railway
tries to be as helpful as possible to enthusiasts when open and provides escorts
to allow enthusiasts to visit stock in non public parts of the site. However,
some so called enthusiasts abuse this and try to wander about on their own or
when the site is closed - in these cases it will be classed as trespass and the
police will be called."
Deferred until the paint dries...?
Today's proposed / booked run south from Glasgow Works of 66407 (SBXL) to
Gloucester did not materialise.

Still 15...
60060 sidelined at Toton and 60085 stopped at Doncaster but assigned to go to
Toton have been stored WNTS. Their replacements are 60018 from store at Toton,

to WCBI.
On the road, not on the road and
to be on the road...
Class 10 D3476 has been collected from the Colne Valley Railway and is being
transferred north by road to Thomson's, Stockton. It has been advised that
D3255, still at the Colne Valley Railway, is not sold for scrap however it has
also been indicated that this and D3476 are being weighed in against a couple of
better condition Class 08s. The mooted move of 37418 to the East Lancashire
Railway has been deferred whilst the transfer of 37294 (WNSO) from Crewe to
Rotherham - rumours persist that it has been sold on though - is further
delayed. 08510 and 08890 (both WNSO) awaiting collection from Eastleigh should
be on their way to Rotherham next week whilst it has been established that 56011
(MRLS), sold for spares, is to be transported from long Marston to Booths,
Rotherham where, after stripping of useful parts, its shell will be disposed of.
Also to leave Long Marston for scrap at some point are 20138 and 20215, although
their destination is not known yet.

reinstated to the WCAN pool at the expense of 60096 which has been stored WNTS
at Toton. 60060 (WFMU) remains out of use at Toton and is likely to be stored
but there should be a replacement for it as it has been indicated that it is
planned to keep the fleet at fifteen strong, at least in the short term.
37294...
Its removal from Crewe DMD appears to be being delayed by brake problems. Both
late yesterday afternoon and again this morning 60056 (WNTR) was noted out of
the shed coupled up to 37294 pressurising its systems.

reduced to fifteen following the storage, both to WNTR, of 60048 which is still

Disposal & Booths update...
First disposal to record in quite a while but 37293 is as good as history at
Booths as earlier today all that remained of it was the frame on bogies with its
power unit on top. 37046 (WNSO) has arrived from Tyne Yard and a start has been
made on 37796 and 56076. In common with the rest of the Class 37s coming down
from Tyne Yard 37293 was put to store back in October 2000 and the WKMF pool on
its return from hire in France, RIP.

remains at Warrington. 60020 (WNTS) along with 60024 60026 60027 60062 60063
60068 and 60091 (all WNTR) are still in traffic but several of these are due to
be stopped in the next couple of days. Maybe of interest is that 60063 is now
assigned to go to Merehead for store, possibly because of a recent incident
involving 08947 and 59104 which has left them short of a shunting locomotive...
08587...
Further to yesterday's report it has been established that 08587 (WNSO) has only
moved as far as Wishaw en route to Stockton from Margam.
