Tugs...
60061 and 60074 have been reinstated to WCAI and WCAK respectively swapping places with 60085 - stored WNTS following a period allocated to the WFMU pool at Toton - and 60096 which has been stored WNTR. 60013 is now WFMU while 60039 has been added to the WFMS pool, it was in WNTR.

DBS 66s...
A further round up of changes. 66043 66044 66130 66156 66173 66201 and 66238 have been reinstated to the WB** pools, 66066 and 66206 have been WNTR but are now back into the active fleet. 66053 66083 66089 66093 66098 66139 and 66164 are added to the WNTR collection. There are still 21 DBS Class 66s allocated to the WNTR pool.

Skips...
67017 has been stored WNTR, replaced in the operating fleet by 67028 which has been reinstated to WAAN.

90018...
Possibly by way of a test run, 90018 (WNTS) has been released from Crewe EMD running to Wembley and back today to collect 37670 which is to go to Warrington for repairs.

Taken from Wansford to Washwood Heath yesterday for completion of re-certification work in advance of its return to the mainline, 47270 has been re-registered on the system and allocated back to the DHLT Freightliner storage pool.

Noted traversing the M42 then on the M1 near Sheffield yesterday afternoon 73126 has been transported from Morton in Marsh to Booths, Rotherham.

Dutch Bones...
The three ex ACTS hire Class 58s; 58038 58039 and 58044 (all WZFF). were hauled through from Holland to France yesterday. A photo of the trio en route in convoy can be seen here.

Disposals...
At Booths, Rotherham the cutting of both 37692 and 37798 is at an advanced stage, neither being little more than frames on bogies now, one has part of a cab and the other still has its radiator. 37692 was stored December 2004 from Toton and the WKSN pool whilst 37798 was one of several Class 37s reactivated during January 2005 whilst allocated to the WNTA storage pool, RIP.

73126 on the move...?
Subject to confirmation it has been indicated that Rotherham bound 73126 has been collected from Morton in Marsh.

Tug 10...
60010 has been returned to store, WNTS at Toton.

DBS 66s...
During the past week or so several more Class 66s have been rotated into and out of the WNTR storage pool. Some more than once. Returned to the WB** active pools from WNTR are 66007 66024 66041 66050 66077 66085 66087 66096 66106 66167 and 66174. Reinstated to WFMU from WNTR are 66160 and 66206 (twice) whilst 66035 66173 and 66197 have been reinstated then returned to WNTR. 66099 66116 and 66162 were returned to WNTR from WFMU before being reinstated to the WB** pools whilst 66009 66044 66057 66075 66086 66114 66120 66122 66143 66156 66175 and 66201 have been stored WNTR. These changes leave DBS with 21 Class 66s allocated to WNTR.

WNTR 90s and WNTR 92s...
All the DBS Class 90s and DBS Class 92s that were allocated to the WNTR pool; 90017 90022 90023 90025 90027 90030 90032 90033 90034 90037 90038 90040 92008 92025 and 92035, have all been reallocated to WNTS.

Back again...
20302 (XHSS) has been returned to traffic again, it was working off Sellafield yesterday, whilst 60049 has now been reinstated to the WCAM pool.

Gone and going...
The remains of 56021 at Thomsons, Stockton and the carcasses of 08510 08582 & 08955 at Booths, Rotherham have been finished off. 37692 is now in the process of being dismantled at Rotherham.

Dutch Bones ready to go...
The three former ACTS hire Class 58s in Holland are ready for transfer to France, all three are now in ETF yellow. 58038 58039 and 58044 (all WZFF) are currently located at Kijfhoek Yard awaiting forwarding through to France. Bones away...
58004 and 58013 (both WZFF) were despatched through the tunnel to France overnight last night. Whilst 58004 has seen action in France already the return to active use of 58013 is of note, this one having being sidelined since April 2001 when it was taken out of service at Eastleigh. All but five Class 58s being prepared for France in the UK are now in France. Still at Eastleigh being readied to go are 58001 58006 58021 58036 and 58042.

Grids across...
66090 hauled 56054 56067 56083 56107 56109 and 56120 (all WNXX) across from Ferrybridge to Crewe DMD this afternoon.

And more shunter notes...
08428 still in use at Doncaster has been stored WNTR whilst 08798, following attention at Doncaster Carr, has been reinstated to the WSSN pool. Further to yesterday's report it transpires that 09019, now reinstated to WSSI, has replaced 09023 at Immingham which has been stored WNTR. There currently doesn't appear to be a replacement at Scunthorpe for 08735 which has been removed to Doncaster. 09022 (WNTR) at Bescot is now available following an E exam at the West Midlands depot.

Disposals...
08510 08582 and 08955 are all in advanced stages of cutting at Booths, Rotherham. Evidently sales for these has not been forthcoming and breaking up has followed. 08510 still has part of its cab and fuel tank in situ but 08582 and 08955 are cut down to little more than frames on wheels. 08510 was stored from Old Oak Common and WSAS in March 2004, 08582 was stored from Immingham and WSNE in February 2004 whilst 08955 has lingered on since storage from Cardiff and WSAW in February 2000, RIP.

Tug 49...
60049 (WFMS) has been returned to use from Toton.

73126...
Sold for disposal to Booths, Rotherham 73126 at the Fire Training College, Moreton in Marsh has been re-listed.

Duff on logs...
Its been a while since the deployment of Colas 47s to the Chirk logs was first mooted but 47739 (COLO) topped 57314 (IWCA) as far as Warrington with today's southbound working.

37670...
With 37419 being held back at Toton for further attention only 37670 has been released and after being tripped to Crewe has joined up with 37401 for transfer up to Scotland overnight tonight.

25313...
The Wensleydale Diesel Traction Group (WDTG) have advised that they will be taking it under their wing when it arrives at the Wensleydale Railway from Llangollen.

56098...
Following its enforced stop over at Fleet Services on the M3 58098 has now been taken north to Barrow Hill.

More shunter notes...
09019 (WNTR) has been returned to service as a replacement for Scunthorpe's 08735 (WSSI) which has been transported to Doncaster Carr. 08561 (WNXX) has been transported from Doncaster Carr to Toton, it is to be a spares donor, whilst 08605 (WNTS) has been brought down from Mossend by road to Doncaster Carr following the delivery of 08993 (WSSN) to Mossend.

Frothy 37s...
37419 and 37670 (both WFMU) have been unveiled to the press at Toton and are expected to re-enter traffic tomorrow. Transfer north for work in Scotland is on the cards.

Bones to go...
58004 and 58013 (both WZFF) were hauled from Eastleigh to Wembley last night and have been hauled down to Dollands Moor today to await despatch through to France.

Grids to go...
56054 56067 56083 56107 56109 and 56120 (all WNXX) are to be moved from Ferrybridge to Crewe. Their transfer, in one batch, has been pencilled in to take place tomorrow and they are routed to go via Diggle etc.

Shunters notes...
09019 (WNTR) has been released from Doncaster Carr, noted on the M18 heading east, possibly to Immingham. 08445 was observed traversing the M1 near Nottingham this morning whilst 08993 (WSSN), also latterly at Doncaster Carr, is on the road being observed heading west on the M62 mid afternoon. 09003 (WNTS) has been gutted at Margam, its internals are going into 08752 (WNTS) which has been transported from Tidal to Margam.

Schenkerisation...
37419 (WFMU) has been out-shopped in DB Schenker red livery at Toton.

Chopper jolly...
20306 (XHSS) ventured out from Eastleigh Works to Southampton Docks and back today to collect a coach.

DBS notes...
37670 (WFMU) has had its DB Schenker decals applied at Toton. 37422 (WNTS) has completed its transfer from Eastleigh to Toton being brought over from Bescot today meanwhile 08711 (WNTR) has completed its movement by road from Westbury to Doncaster Carr via a stop over at Wishaw. 60010 released back into traffic yesterday and reinstated to the WCAM pool has been stopped again at Toton with an engine malfunction. 60010 has replaced 60022 in the active fleet, the latter being stored WNTS at Toton. 67012 (WNTR), released back into traffic from Crewe some days ago but not reinstated, has been stopped again, at Toton, whilst recently reinstated 67018 (WFMU) is yet to venture out from Toton as it is still awaiting parts.

47540...
Its future has been resolved, former Sinderby feature 47540 is to go to the Wensleydale Railway.

37422 (WNTS) has left Eastleigh, en route to Toton it was initially hauled to Wembley Yard in the consist of 6M44 before being forwarded to Bescot via 6G15.

08711...
Following transport north from Westbury 08711 (WNTR) has been spending the weekend at Sutton Coldfield. It is headed for Doncaster Carr and an E exam.

66584ski...
Next for Poland is 66584 (DFHG) which is being prepared at Leeds for export.

87004...
Europhoenix have advised, no details are to be had at the moment, that 'something special' is on the cards for 87004 (SBXL) at Long Marston.

DBS shunters...
08711 (WNTR), which had still being seeing use at Westbury following storage a few days ago, has now been removed from Westbury being noted heading north on the M42 this morning. Shunting duties at Westbury are now in the hands of recently reinstated 08995 (WSSN) which has arrived from Doncaster Carr.

DRS 20...
20302 (XHSS) was turned out from Kingmoor yesterday for charter duties in Scotland with 37069. All has not been well with the 20 though, 20302 being failed on the West Highland with traction motor problems.

DBS 37...
At Toton 37670 (WFMU) is now in DBS red awaiting application of Schenker decals.

HNRC / Advenza / TJT 47...
A change of mind and the insurance have now written off 47145 (HNRS) currently languishing at Thomsons, Stockton. Its ownership reverted to HNRC who in turn have re-traded it on to Advenza.

DBS 60s...
60059 has now been reinstated to the WCBI pool, it was latterly out and about allocated to WFMS. 60010 (now WFMS) and 60024 (WFMS) have run into the Compound at Toton whilst 60500 (WNTS) has joined 60066 60084 60086 and 60099 (all WNTS) on the former snowplough head shunt at Toton.

DBS 66s...
66041 66043 66050 66130 66173 and 66174 have been stopped and stored WNTR at Toton exchanging places with 66002 66012 66048 (again) 66075 66119 66178 and 66188 which have been reinstated to the WB** pools in addition to 66099 66112 66116 66162 66164 66196 and 66227 which have been reinstated to the WFMU pool. These changes leave DBS with 21 Class 66s allocated to the WNTR pool.

GBRf 66s...
66401 and 66402, both now in traffic with GBRf, have been reinstated to the GBCM pool from SBXL.

DBS 67s...
67018 at Toton, sidelined since December 2007, has been reinstated to the WFMU pool. 67016 has been stopped WNTR at Crewe EMD whilst 67020 has been reinstated to WAAN from WNTR at Crewe EMD.

Disposals...
At Booths, Rotherham the cutting of 47767, stored from Crewe and the WHCD pool in July 2003, has been completed whilst at Thomsons, Stockton 56021, stored from Immingham and WGAN in June 1999, has been sliced in half, one half of which has been disposed of, RIP.

Grid 098...
Problems with weight issues, route clearance and paperwork has resulted in 56098, en route from the Mid Hants to Barrow Hill, being stopped at Fleet Services on the M3. To get the weight of the locomotive down to allow it to continue it has been craned off its bogies, these have been forwarded to Barrow Hill, and 56098 is now sat on two stacks of sleepers awaiting collection and transport to Barrow Hill.

58040 and 58049 (both WZFF) have been hauled up from Eastleigh to Wembley ready for transfer to Dollands Moor and despatch through to France.

DRS snippets...
37194 (XHNC) has been receiving cosmetic attention at WCRC Carnforth being repainted in DRS blue ready to receive Compass decals meanwhile 20302 (XHSS) has been returned to working order at Kingmoor ready for a charter jolly this coming weekend's up the West Highland line.

Work in progress...
At Booths, Rotherham the cutting of 47767 (NRLS) is well underway.

DBS 08s...
08711 at Westbury has been stored WNTR whilst 08993 and 08995 at Doncaster are reinstated to WSSN.

DBS 60s...
60040 has been reinstated to WCAM as the replacement for 60063 which has been stored WNTS at Toton. 60013 has been reallocated from WCBI to WCAI, a correction as it is a short range fuel tank version, whilst 60083 (WNTS) has been shunted across to join the other Class 60s in the yard at Toton.

DBS 66s...
66007 66012 66048 (again) 66077 66085 66096 66106 66162 66188 and 66213 have been stored WNTR, 66015 66030 and 66230 have been WNTR but are now back in the WB** allocation whilst 66004 66076 66124 66148 66170 and 66232 have also been returned to the WB** pools from WNTR at Toton. A head count lists 29 DBS Class 66s as currently allocated to the WNTR pool.

DBS 67s...
67011 has been reinstated to WABN from WNTR at Crewe whilst 67019 is back into store, WNTR at Crewe.

DRS 20...
20311 (XHSS) has been returned to Crewe Gresty Bridge being hauled south from Carlisle Kingmoor today in convoy with 66433 57008 and 57011.

In the last few days 66087 66164 and 66167 have been stopped at Toton, WNTR, exchanging places with 66133 66135 66169 66192 and 66230 which have been returned to the WB** pools. Reactivated 67019 has been reinstated to WABN in place of 67011 which has been stored WNTR at Crewe EMD. 60059 at Toton is now allocated to the WFMS holding pool whilst 60025 and 60089 (both WNTS) have joined 60005 60006 60014 60023 60044 60053 60078 60081 and 60097 in Toton Yard.

As you were...
66701 to 66732, the GBRf Class 66 fleet, have en masse been reallocated from PG (GBRf Peterborough) to SV (Wembley). They were reallocated from SV to PG in May.

Toton...
08951 (WNTS) last noted leaving South Wales on a low loader has turned up at Toton for repairs. Also now arrived at Toton is 37419 (WFMU) which after release from Crewe EMD was stopped with a speedometer fault necessitating it later being hauled from Crewe to Toton via the 6D51 engineers working. 60005 60006 and 60081 (all WNTS) have been moved across from the Compound to Toton Yard.

Disposal...
The scrapping of 08890, stored February 2004 from WSAS at Old Oak Common, has been completed at Booths, Rotherham, RIP.

47593...
At the DRS open day at Kingmoor Depot 47790 (XHHP) was on display as 47593, one of its former guises. For the record during its career 47790 has been numbered D1973 47272 47593 47673 and 47790.

Tractors...
37419 (WFMU) has been released from Crewe EMD and is, via Bescot, en route to Toton. 37670 (now WFMU) in the paint facility at Toton is being prepared for a full repaint. 37605 and 37612 currently at Eastleigh Works for attention have been transferred to the XHSS storage pool.

DRS transfer...
20311 (XHSS) and 47790 (XHHP) were hauled north from Crewe Gresty Bridge to Carlisle Kingmoor yesterday.

Disposals...
A slightly delayed entry, and one amended since first published on the 8th, these notes should have been part of the update posted on the 2nd. 08919 (not 08890 although the cutting of this one is now underway), stored from Old Oak Common and WSAS February 2004, and 31415 (NRLS), stored from Bescot and LBDB in July 1995, have been scrapped at Booths, Rotherham, RIP.

Ex Dreds...
66401 (SBXL) has been extracted from Wembley and today was on its way to Tonbridge for forwarding to St Leonards whilst 66402 (still SBXL?) has entered traffic with GBRF on a pay as you go basis.

BRC 87s...
At Long Marston 87014 (SBXL) has been out-shopped in BRC green and yellow whilst 87004 and 87013 are rubbed down ready for repainting.

Functionality over form...
Some information on the Railway Gazette website about 70001 and 70002 being readied for testing and a larger picture of one of the new locomotives as posted to Twitter.

Tugs...
On the plus side 60040 and 60054 at Toton have been reallocated to the WFMS pool but on the less than plus side 60014 (WNTS) 60023 (WNTS) 60044 (WNTR) and 60078 (WNTS) from the decidedly full depot along with 60053 and 60097 (both WNTS) from the Compound have been relocated across to the mothballed sidings in Toton Old Bank Yard. Of these Class 60s transferred over to the Yard those that had been named are now devoid of nameplates.

Shunter notes...
08699 (MBDL) has been transported from Allely's, Studley to Shotton whilst 08511 (TTLS) from Barry has been transported to and has entered traffic at Felixstowe. Recently stored 08951 (WNTS) has been removed from Cardiff being noted on a low loader heading east on the M4 today.

67019 (WNTR) has been released back into traffic from Crewe EMD.

66844...
Jumping the queue, 66843 is still being prepared for a return to service, 66844 (ADFL) has been released from Glasgow Works running south light engine to Stoke this afternoon / evening.

DBS notes...
08782, returned to service at Cardiff several weeks ago, has now been reinstated to the WSSI pool exchanging places with 08951 which has been stored WNTS at Tidal. 66002 66075 and 66116 (all WNTR) have all now reached / been stopped at Toton. 66002 was brought down from Warrington via Bescot where it was joined by 37670 (WKBN) en route to Toton for painting. 37419 (now WFMU again) remains at Crewe EMD. Not previously noted was the storage and subsequent reinstatement of 67003 prior to the storage of 67019.

Grounded Bones...
In addition to yesterday's notes about 58002 and 58017 being grounded at Eastleigh it transpires that 58037 (WZTS) has also been shorn of its bogies and stacked on a pile of sleepers at Eastleigh.

Register...
47375 has been re-registered to the MBDL pool whilst Stockton residents 31423 and 56021 have now been de-registered from the MRLS pool. Two new pools have been created for the stored 56/3s; RCJZ for the Fastline pair, 56301 and 56302 at Doncaster, and RVLS for 56303 at Derby. The five RCJB 66/3s have been reallocated from HQ to Roberts Road. 21544 and 21545, two of the ECR Vossloh European locomotives have also been de-registered from WLAN. (Reason anyone?)

DBS 37s, Schenkerisation...?
37419 (now WKBN) and 37670 (WKBN) are both assigned to Toton for painting.

DBS 60s...
60022 has been reinstated to WCBI from Toton, it was one of the four recently reallocated to the resurrected WFMS pool, exchanging places with 60059 which has been stored WNTS at Toton. In recent days several stored Class 60s; 60005 60006 60052 and 60089 (all WNTS), have been moved into Toton Compound. 60081 (WNTS) was brought out of the Compound a few days ago but has now been returned.

DBS 66s...
66024 and 66099 (both WNTR) are now at Toton. 66002 at Warrington, 66075 still in traffic, 66076 at Toton, 66116 still in traffic, 66135 66169 66170 and 66197 at Toton have been reallocated to WNTR whilst 66058 66069 66081 66097 66127 66137 and 66141 have been reinstated to the WB** pools.

DBS 67s...
67019 has been stored WNTR at Crewe EMD swapping with 67027 which has been reinstated to WAAN.

Grounded Bones and Cans...
At Eastleigh 58002 and 58017 (both WZTS) have been removed from their bogies and dumped on stacks of sleepers. Both have been donating parts to the Class 58s being prepared at Eastleigh for duties in France. 58002 has been in a bit of a state at Eastleigh for some time now being raided for parts when the remaining fleet was transferred from Toton to Eastleigh in 2001 whilst 58017 was the first of the Class removed from service when it was stored in April 1999.
Up at Crewe LNWR in anticipation of the scrap man arriving 86602 86623 86633 and 86635 have been grounded. 86623 it on the deck in a traditional manner having had its bogies removed whilst the other three are without wheelsets but are still sat on their bogie frames.

37421...
Delivered by road transfer to the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway yesterday following a period at Allely's, Studley 37421 has entered preservation.

DBS notes...
08605 at Mossend and 09005 at Hoo Junction have been stored, both WNTS. DBS now only have one shunter in use north of the border; 08706 at Ayr. 60022 60024 60049 and 60077 at Toton, 60022 has been on yard area shunting duties of late, have been reallocated from variously WNTR or WNTS to WFMS in advance of this autumn's pending RHTT season. DBS have an increased requirement this year and will be needing more locomotives for RHTT work than of late. 66013 66019 and 66048 have been reinstated from WNTR at Toton whilst 66024 (still WNTR) is now at Bescot assigned to be returned to Toton. 66097 and 66178 at Toton along with 66099 at Newport to go to Toton are now WNTR.

Bones away...
58010 58032 and 58046 (all WZFF) were taken from Eastleigh to Wembley yesterday evening and have been forwarded through to Dollands Moor then on to France today.
