Several more Class 60s have been reinstated allowing for the transfer of Class 66s etc. into the sandite pool (see below). The Class 60 WC** fleet is now 23 strong following the formal reinstatements of 60004 60040 and 60045, these were already active, along with 60010 60022 and 60084 from store at Toton.

WBSN...
A new pool coded WBSN for locomotives on sandite / RHTT duties has been created. Allocated to it so far are 37401 - its horns having being relocated from the roof to the bonnet ends for use through some restricted clearance tunnels in Yorkshire - 66009 66106 66116 66134 66153 and 66237 in addition to 67003 67004 67026 and 67029.

DB sheds...
66003 66092 66111 66115 66146 66151 and 66193 have been reinstated to the WB** pools swapping places with 66012 66013 66055 66086 66161 66172 and 66206 which have been stored WNTR. DBS currently have 24 Class 66s in the WNTR pool but this should reduce as the requirement for the type on RHTT working increases.

67006 has been reinstated to the WAAN pool whilst 67003 67004 67026 and 67029 have been reallocated to the WBSN RHTT pool.

DRS 20s...
20304 and 20305 have been reinstated to the XHNC pool from XHSS whilst 20306 (XHSS), currently at Crewe Gresty Bridge, has returned to store.

At Thomsons, Stockton the cutting of 31423, stored from Bescot and LBDB in September 1996, has been undertaken, RIP.

92038 has been reallocated from PTXX to the GBRf GBRT pool.

Returned to Toton and store 60068 suffered a serious engine (and body side) malfunction whilst working the 6H31 Margam to Llanwern working yesterday. Escorted back to Toton sandwiched between 66148 and 66127, 60068 is now stored WNTS.

60022 (WNTS) has been stopped again at Toton, for a B exam whilst 60004 (WFMS) has been released from Toton to Hoo Junction where it appears to have taken up a role as the shunter there. In a similar vein 60040 (WNTR) is on shunting duties at Sandiacre whilst 60045 (WFMS) is the shunter / on restricted duties at Scunthorpe.

08703 has been transported from Doncaster Carr to Ketton and has been reinstated to the WSSK pool from WNTS. 08888 taken from Ketton to Toton is now stored WNTR. 08389 recently delivered to Toton has been stored WNTS, 08393 at Bescot has been stored WNTS, 08653 recently reactivated at Warrington is now reinstated to the WSSN pool whilst 08742 (WSSN) via a stop off at Goodman's has been transferred by road from Daventry to Doncaster Carr.

Collected by 60009 whilst heading a special freight from Blackburn to Warrington 37406 (WNXX) has been moved down from Wigan to Warrington for forwarding to Crewe EMD to yield spares.

37609 has been conveying Class 20s between Crewe and Eastleigh today. After taking 20302 20303 and 20311 (all XHSS) south from Crewe to Eastleigh Works this morning it returned north to Gresty Bridge with overhauled 20304 and 20305 (both XHSS) in tow.

60011 60073 and 60077 have been reinstated from store at Toton to the WCAK and WCBK pools swapping with 60009 and 60040 which are now stored WNTS and WNTR respectively at Toton.

Shunter notes...
08665 has been transferred from Healey Mills to Booths, Rotherham. On the 16th it was moved by rail (slowly) by 66250 from Healey Mills to Ferrybridge from where it was forwarded by road to Rotherham, being unloaded at Booths on the 17th. Another arrival at Booths is 01565 which is for shunting not scrap. 08653 (WNTS) is in traffic at Warrington, 08706 (WSSM) has been brought down from Ayr to Toton whilst 08879 (WNTR) has been brought up from Eastleigh to Toton.

Disposal...
The carcass of 08535 (MRSS) recently brought across from Shotton to Rotherham has been disposed of at Booths. 08535 was stored from Bescot and the WSWM pool back in October 2000, RIP.

Export...
Slipping under the radar some days ago was 58036 (WZFF) which was moved up from Eastleigh to Wembley on the 10th, subsequently being despatched abroad for contract hire work in France.

60010 stopped at Immingham and 60073 at Toton have been stored, 60010 to WNTR, 60073 to WFMS, after a brief spell in WNTR. 60040 has been reallocated from WFMU to WNTR and back to WFMU whilst 60054 and 60074 are reinstated, to WCBI and WCBK respectively. 60011 at Toton and 60045 which is out and about have been added to the WFMS reserve pool but 60061 has gone the other way being reallocated back from WFMS to WNTR. There are currently 13 Class 60s in *active* service, 10 allocated to the WC** pools; 60009 60035 60039 60041 60049 60054 60059 60074 60085 and 60096, 60040 in WFMU along with 60022 (WNTS) and 60045 (WFMS) which are / have been in service of late. There are currently 11 Class 60s allocated to the WFMS reserve pool; 60004 60011 60019 60021 60024 60045 60063 60068 60073 60077 and 60091 thus currently giving DBS a potential fleet of 24 locomotives to use. The RHTT / sandite season is about two weeks away.

08665, still at Healey Mills? has been de-registered from WNSO. This indicates that its movement to Booths, Rotherham may be in progress or have taken place already. DBS have reinstated seven Class 08s, 08605 08664 and 08711 at Doncaster Carr, 08701 and 08804 at Toton, 08886 at Bescot and 08921 at Wigan, from variously WNTR or WNTS to WFMU.

Another Class 60 resurrected is 60045 (WNTR) which was released into traffic from Toton early this morning.

Super heater...
To undertake a similar role to 86213 at Wembley 86401 (ACAC) has been despatched to Willesden for train heating duties.

Convoy...
The next three Class 87s for export for use in Bulgaria along with 86401 have been hauled from Long Marston to Crewe today. 87004 in BR blue along with 87013 and 87014 in BRC colours and 86401 in NSE were hauled north by 56311.

60013 and 60074 have been stopped and stored, both WNTR, at Toton. Returned to use and or reinstated are 60035 to WCAI, this one recently being moved from Crewe to Toton, 60041, also a former Crewe DMD resident, to WCBI, 60059, already out and about, to WCBI and 60085 to WCAI whilst 60022 (WNTS) has been released back in service from Toton.

In the past few days 08954 (WNXX), the last shunter at Allerton, has been delivered to Toton. 37401 is back in the WFMU pool, 60019 has been stood down at Toton and is now reallocated from WNTR to the WFMS pool. 60054 has been stored at Toton, initially WNTR but later to the WFMS pool along with 60041. 60059 was returned to store, WCAN to WFMS, but has been resurrected and returned to traffic, still allocated to WFMS. 66063 66086 66149 66150 66154 and 66164 have been stored WNTR at Toton swapping places with 66124 66193 66196 66199 66207 and 66238 which have been reinstated. 67002 and 67019 have been reinstated but 67007 is now stored WNTR at Crewe EMD.

GBRf add another 66 to their fleet...
66410 recently brought down from Glasgow has been reinstated to the GBRf GBRT fleet. Fellow hire ins 66401 and 66402 are also now in the GBRT fleet whilst 66713 has been swapped over to GBCM.

Already active 20301 has been reinstated to the XHNC fleet replacing 20302 which has been stored XHSS at Crewe Gresty Bridge.

Former Warrington stalwart 08389 (WSSN) has been transported to Toton whilst Allerton has been cleared of stored shunters with the removal of 08954 (WNXX), it was noted at Lymm Services off the M6 this morning, possibly en route to Toton.

60010 is back again, reinstated to the WCAI pool, 60059 has been reinstated to WFMU. 60019 and 60085 have been stored WNTR, 60019 is still out and about whilst 60085 has been stopped at Toton. 60021 60040 and 60091 have been added to the WFMS pool which now comprises nine Class 60s; 60021 60024 60040 60061 60063 60068 60073 60077 and 60091. These are all at Toton bar 60040 which has been returned to service.
Since the last look at the DBS Class 66 fleet 66008 66124 66167 66126 and 66238 have been stored WNTR swapping with 66044 66067 66068 66165 and 66166 which have been reinstated to the WB** operating pools. These changes leave DBS still with 19 Class 66s in store.
67010 and 67012 have been reinstated, to WABN and WAWN respectively, whilst 67013 at Crewe and 67018 at Toton, the latter didn't return to use after being reinstated to WFMU in July, have been stored / returned to store, both WNTR.
