05/01/10

Road transfers...
Firstly a clarification, 37684 hadn't been delivered to Booths yesterday as reported but instead spent the night at Woodall Services on the M1 near Chesterfield. It is assumed 37684 was delivered today. 37684 has been moved up from Allely's to Booths, Rotherham today, it and 37896 were, it has been confirmed, moved from the A441 lay-by to Allely's on December 28th. Hulls bound 37890 and 37896 should be on their way (snow permitting) in the next day or so from Allely's to Rotherham. Attention should then turn to the Class 56s awaiting transfer from Healey Mills to Doncaster for Kingsbury.

Ouch...
DB Schenker ran their first Stobart train today utilising the two re-liveried locomotives but things haven't gone quite to plan. The northbound service this morning behind 92017 (WTAE) ran a little over two hours late (the overnight temperature probably being a contributing factor, -8c was recorded near Preston) whilst worse was to follow this afternoon when 66048 (WBAN) heading the southbound 4N47 Inverness to Grangemouth working ran into trouble following the decent from Slochd Summit at Carrbridge. 66048 and part of its consist ending up derailed down an embankment. 66048 has stayed upright and fortunately the train crew have escaped with only minor injuries. Several pictures and a video clip of the aftermath of the derailment can be viewed here (pictures) and here (video).

37684 & 37896...
Not previously noted is that 37684 and 37896 (both WNSO) have, in the past week, been removed from the lay-by on the A441 to Allely's yard a few miles away.
