Class 82 Two Class 82s were lost prior to the Class being renumbered. E3055 being the first to go during September 1969 followed by E3046 in January 1971. the first renumbered Class 82s were withdrawn in July 1983 when 82001 82002 82003 82006 and 82007 were removed from service. The last Class 82 was stood down in December 1987 when 82008 was withdrawn. BREL at Crewe Works scrapped the two early casualties whilst the rest went to either CF Booth's at Rotherham, who scrapped two examples, or Vic Berry's at Leicester where five Class 82s were broken up. One Class 82 has been preserved and the last disposals were 82003 and 82005 which were scrapped during June 1993 at Rotherham. |
