Further to the recent report logging 66242 (WBEN) at Toton it transpires that this locomotive was actually returned to the UK late December last. Also missed during the first half of the month was the addition to the WBEP Polish pool of 66178 66189 and 66196. 67016 has been reinstated to the WAAN pool from WNTR at Crewe EMD.

Moved on from Bristol yesterday 73209 (GBZZ) has arrived in the Cardiff area.

73209 (GBZZ) has left St Leonards and, en route to South Wales, has reached Bristol Temple Meads. It is being moved in convoy with 20301 20302 20304 and 20305.

Disposals...
At Booths, Rotherham 08569 (WNSO), stored from the WREM pool in November 2004, and 09105, stored from the WSSN pool in February 2009, have been disposed of, RIP.

Evidently following a change of plan 08480 (WSSK) has been brought down from Bow to Eastleigh from where 09022 (WSSK) was displaced from. 08784 (WNYX) is still at Hoo. 08804 and 08888 (both WSSI) have been removed from Cardiff Tidal, 08632 (WSSI) is still on site. 08924 (now HNRS) recently delivered to Booths, Rotherham should be on the move again shortly, to Barrow Hill.

North East scrappers next for clearance...?
Several of the sold locomotives in the North east have been prepared for collection. At Tyne Yard EMR bound 37671 37693 and 37891 (all WNSO) have been dug out and lined up for removal whilst at Thornaby Booths bound 08597 08698 and 08776 (all WNSO) are in position to await road transport south.
 

Tugs...
60039 and 60071, currently at Immingham awaiting transfer to Toton, have been stored WNTR. Their places in the operating fleet are taken by 60015 and 60099 which are reinstated to the WCBI and WCAI pools respectively from WNTR at Toton.

Shunter news...
08401 (WNSO) has been taken to LH Group Services, Barton under Needwood thus transfer into preservation is not on the cards however 09001 (WNSO) has entered preservation with the Heritage Shunter Trust - who incidentally recently have also taken delivery of D3000, latterly located at Scunthorpe - at Peak Rail, Rowsley.
The DB Schenker operation at Cardiff Tidal is being would up and the new supplier of traction for shunting at this location is GBRf. 08202 from the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire and 08934 (GBWM) from Whitemoor have been brought in by road transport. 73209 (GBZZ) from St Leonards is to be brought in by rail shortly. DBS currently have 08632 08804 and 08888 (all WSSI) on site.
09022 (WSSK) latterly located at Eastleigh has been seen on the move by road whilst it has been advised that Eurogronks 08738 and 08939 (both WSEN) are on their way back to the UK and Toton.

DBS Shed notes...
66001 from store at Toton has been reinstated to the WBAI pool swapping with 66174 which has been stored WNTR at Toton. 66242 (WBEN) is back in the UK, at Toton, where it joins fellow Eurosheds 6602966062 66071 and 66245 (all WBEN). 66033 66191 and 66249 (all WBEN) are still at Dollands Moor.

Kingsbury...
87011 is sort of still with us, just its frame and cabs are in existence at EMR Kingsbury. A recent viewing report for Kingsbury, dated for the 22nd noted the following (liveries are being included in this report for reference because a couple of correspondents have submitted enquiries recently) visible; 86212 (VT Red), 86223 (Anglia), 08538 (DCE Grey), part dismantled 08920 (Freight Grey Unbranded), 86226 (VT Red), 86230 (Anglia), 12049 (burnt), 87030 (VT Red), 20197 (BR Blue), 37886 (EW&S), 37898 (Freight Transrail) and 09016 (EWS). Three industrials were also recorded; Sentinel H013 / 10137 (Wabtec Blue), a Sentinel in Black and a Yorkshire in Black, the identities of these two are unknown. 37709 was not noted at this time.
 

Shunters on the road...
08401 (WNSO) has left Immingham, being observed heading west on the M180 on a low loader this morning. Although earlier reported as privately purchased (with a view to preservation) 08401 has disappeared off the radar and several possible destinations - including the Keith & Dufftown Railway, Ribble Steam Railway and LH Group Services, Barton under Needwood - have been suggested. 08924 (WNSO) has been brought down from Tyne Yard to Booths, Rotherham.

Toton /4s...
37402 and 37419 (both WNXX) are back on the shed from the compound for de-fuelling etc.

Hartlepool Grids...
Cutting of some of the Class 56s at EMR Hartlepool, possibly up to three of the five there, has been under way in the past week or so. 56088 is known to still be extant. The others on site are / were 56085 56108 56111 and 56129.

At Booths, Rotherham 08512 (WNSO), stored from the WSSI pool in April 2008, 09101 (WNSO), stored from the WSSN pool in October 2008 and 09202 stored from Thornaby and the WSNE pool in January 2006, have been disposed of, RIP.

Toton changes...
08561 08954 09019 and 37669 (all WNSO) have been brought out of the compound to the main shed area and are being drained of liquids in readiness for removal from site. The space created has been occupied by 37402 37405 37419 37422 and 37425 (all WNXX) which have been moved from near the paint facility into the compound. 60062 (WNTS), out of traffic for almost two years, stopped in February 2009, has been undergoing load bank tests. It currently has an ok date set for 31/03, incidentally the same as 60007 (WNTR) which is being overhauled at Toton.

WNTS Eurobones...
The six WNTS allocated Class 58s in France; 58004 58006 58011 58026 58040 and 58049, have been noted in storage at the ECR depot at Alizay.

Following on from the news that WCRC are to take 57001 (DFTZ) once released from Freightliner there's been quite a bit of talk / speculation about whether 47237 (CROL) at Gloucester and / or 57005 (CROL) currently at Cardiff might be heading their way as well. 57006 (CROL) at Heaton has also cropped up but this one is understood to be impounded.

60084 has been reinstated from WNTR at Toton to the WCAI pool.

Shunters on the move...
Three more Class 08s have been moved to Booths, Rotherham in the past couple of days with 08569 08897 and 08941 (all WNSO) being transferred by road from Doncaster Carr. Transferred from Doncaster Carr to Barrow Hill - and acquired by HNRC - is 08786 (WNSO) whilst 09014 (WNSO) has been taken from Doncaster Carr to Washwood Heath being noted on a low loader on the M42 near Tamworth this morning en route.
 

Skips, a shed and a Dyson...
67011 which has remained active since reallocation to the WNTR pool has been reinstated to the WABN pool swapping places with 67009 which has been stored WNTR. 67009 was en route south overnight in the consist of a Mossend to Warrington service. 67015 and 67026 are reinstated to the WAWN and WAAN pools respectively whilst 67012 has been stored WNTR at Crewe EMD. 66221 (WNTR) has now arrived at Toton whilst 92003 is back in traffic having being reinstated to the WTAE pool from WFMS.

Barrow Hill arrivals...
37608 (XHSS) and 57001 (DFTZ) have been deposited at Barrow Hill for attention. 37608 was escorted across from Crewe by 20308 and 47712 whilst 57001 was brought down from Leeds Midland Road by 66594 and 70010, the latter on test. Once repairs have been carried out and the locomotive successfully load bank tested 57001 can be released by Freightliner and on to the next chapter in its career which is to be with the Maroon team, north Lancashire.

Disposals...
At EMR Attercliffe the disposals of 56041 and 56119 are at an advanced stage, little more than frames on bogies remaining of each after removal of their respective power equipment today. 56041 was stored from Immingham and the WGAI pool in February 2003 whilst 56119 was stored from WGAT at Thornaby in March 2004, RIP.
 

Doncaster departures...
08512 and 09105 (both WNSO) have been transported by road from Doncaster Carr to Booths, Rotherham. There may of been another shunter moved across this afternoon. 37503 and 37521 (both WNSO) are being prepared to leave Doncaster Carr by rail.

DRS transfer...
57010 (XHSS) has, in convoy today with 20308 47501 and 47712, been transferred from Crewe Gresty Bridge to RVEL at Derby RTC. 47501 (XHAC) has also been left at Derby and is understood to be undergoing a bogie change with 57010.

Another Class 08 or 09105 has been transported from Doncaster Carr to Booths, Rotherham this morning, the identity of which is yet to be established. 08633 and 08907, latterly allocated to the WFMU pool, and 08706, from WSSI, have been stored WNYX at Toton.

DRS developments...
37608 37609 and 57010 stopped in the Crewe area, Gresty Bridge or the DRS compound in Basford Hall, along with 57012 at Kingmoor, have been stored XHSS. Some or all of these may pay a visit to Barrow Hill for attention for some point.

Toton developments...
60015 and 60024 (both WNTR) are now on shed, for the time being stood down from traffic. 37402 37405 and 37419 (all WNXX) noted on the fuel point earlier presumably for de-fuelling, have since been moved to behind the paint shop where they have been joined by 37422 (WNXX) from the Compound and 37425 (WNXX) from the sidings to the north of the main shed. The repositioning of (as viewed from south to north) 37425 37422 37405 37402 and 37419 to the concreted area adjacent to the paint facility. Viewing of these locomotives, all five are currently for sale, by prospective buyers will be easier now that they are gathered together in one place.

Eurosheds...
66062, back at Toton, has been reallocated from WBEI to the WBEN pool. The rest of the Eurosheds currently in the UK are still as were; 66029 66071 and 66245 at Toton whilst 66033 66191 and 66249 are still at Dollands Moor.

Freightliner 66...
Following attention at Leeds midland Road 66604 (DFTZ) has been returned to traffic.

66001 at Toton, 66221 still in traffic and 67011 also still in traffic have been stored WNTR whilst 66083 to WFMU, 66193 to WBAI and 67016 to WFMU, have been reinstated from WNTR from either Toton or Crewe EMD. At Kingsbury recent arrivals 08577 and 08651 (both WNXX) have been disposed of whilst at Attercliffe the scrapping of 56053 has been completed. 08577 was stored from Bescot and the WRWM pool in September 2004, 08651 was stored from Canton and the WSGW pool February 2004 whilst 56053 was stored from Immingham and WGAN back in July 1999, RIP.

Class 90s anyone...
DBS have put twelve redundant Class 90s up for sale. Being offered for sale are 90017 90022 90023 90025 90030 90031 90032 90033 90037 90038 90040 and 90050 (all WNTS), all are currently located at Crewe EMD.

WNSO additions...

Disposal...
At Kingsbury the cutting of 08398 was at a fairly advanced strange when viewed yesterday, only its frame on wheels with engine block remained. Withdrawn from Bristol Bath Road in July 1985 08398 spent a spell in industrial use before being acquired by EMR for scrap, RIP.

60011 (WNTR) has been painted into DB Schenker red at Toton.

Paint froth part 2...
66731 (GBMU) has been released from Brush Traction at Loughborough in a new variation of the GBRf livery incorporating the Europorte roundel into the design. Also applied is the GB Railfreight logo as seen on their web site. 73205, currently at Brush Traction for repairs is rumoured to be getting the new livery which will, sorry, should suit their Class 92s...
 

70012...
Unloaded from the Beluga Endurance to the quayside at Newport Docks today a structurally impaired 70012 (DHLT) has been deposited on a trailer. This trailer is to enable movement within the Docks, it is not of a type that has to be used to move a locomotive of this tonnage over the UK road network.

09201, which was despatched to Knottingley before 09106 was brought back to Toton the other day, has been reinstated to the WSSI pool. 09106 is now stored WNYX at Toton. 08706 (WSSI) has been moved up by road from Tidal to Toton being noted on a low loader traversing the M50 heading for the M5 on the morning of the 8th. 66187 has been reinstated to the WBAI pool from WNTR at Toton whilst 67009 is reinstated to the WABN pool from WNTR at Crewe EMD. 67016 has been stored WNTR at Crewe EMD. 66062 (WBES) appears to be stopped again at Toton whilst 66191 (WBEN) has reached Dollands Moor. 66028 and 66243 (both WBEN) have moved from Crewe to Wembley. 66033 and 66249 (both WBEN) are still at Dollands Moor whilst 66029 66071 and 66245 (all WBEN) are at Toton.
 

Ouch...
Last January it was ouch for DBS and 66048 when it ran away in Scotland, coming to grief at Carrbridge. This January it's ouch for freightliner and brand new 70012 (DHLT) which has been damaged whilst being lifted out of the ship at Newport. Reportedly from about 20 feet in the air, during the unloading process, something evidently going completely wrong, 70012 was dropped back into the hold of the Beluga Endurance. Obviously the damage to the locomotive will have to be assessed but early indications suggest that 70012 is likely to be beyond economic repair.

70s...
70008 and 70009 have been reallocated from DHLT to the DFGI pool whilst 70010 and 70011 have been reallocated to the DFGH pool. 70012 remains allocated tot he DHLT pool.

Disposal
At EMR, Attercliffe 56055 has scrapped. Down to two cabs, frame and engine block yesterday it was finished off today. 56055 was stored from Immingham and the WGAN pool in March 2003, RIP.

The boat is in and the unloading of 70008 70009 70010 70011 and 70012 (all DHLT) at Newport Docks was underway this afternoon.
 

DBS notes...
A couple of changes that went through late December 2010. 60096, currently sidelined at Toton, has been stored WNTS whilst 66062 at Toton being prepared to return to Europe has been reallocated from the WBEI pool to the (quite possibly erroneously) WBES sandite pool vice WBEN. 66239 (WBEN) has been despatched through to France whilst 66033 and 66249 (both WBEN) remain at Dollands Moor, meanwhile, 08567, recently reactivated at Toton, has been reinstated to the WSSK pool.

Freightliner notes...
66602 and 66605 (both DFTZ) at Crewe Basford Hall and 66603 (DFTZ) at Leeds midland Road have been returned to 'stored' status.
