today, has been reinstated to the WSSI pool from WNYX. 66049 (WBEN) has
completed its move to Toton from where 66088 and 66092 have been reinstated
from, both to WFMU from WNTR, swapping places with 66107 and 66158 which are
stored WNTR at Toton. From store WNTR at Crewe EMD 92011 and 92037 have been
reinstated, both to the WTAE pool.
Ex Freightliner 86s for spares...
Fire damaged 86621, grounded 86633 and 86635 (all DHLT) at Crewe LNWR
have been acquired by Europhoenix for spares. Once stripped their remains
will probably be broken up on site.

As far as can be ascertained 66417 (DHLT) sailed today from Immingham
to mainland Europe and a new life in Poland.
Burton arrival...
By road transfer 33103 (NRLO) has been brought up from the Swanage
Railway to Burton.
Spanish 37s resold...
It has been advised that 37799 37801 and 37883, latterly recorded as
being owned by Sandbach Car & Commercial Dismantlers, have been sold on to
the Celsa Group. They are, if not already, likely to be broken up in Spain. |

pool from CREL whilst it has been advised that 08331 (MOLO) moved from
Washwood Heath to the Midland Railway Centre earlier in the month has passed

The DBS Logistics sector now has a few shunters. The pool code WSSL
has been created and 08623 08757 08802 along with 09106 have been
reallocated to it from the WSSK pool.
Tugs...
60063 (WNWX) was despatched from Toton to Immingham yesterday
afternoon as a test run and to collect 60099 (WCAI) and bring it back to
Toton. 60099 has been busy shunting the stored Class 60s in Toton Yard this
morning.
DBS changes...
66113 at Toton has been reinstated to the WFMU pool from WNTR however
66050 66088 66118 and 66161, all at Toton, and 92012 at Crewe EMD have been stored WNTR.
66183 has been reallocated to the WSSK shunter pool from WFMU. DBS currently
have three mainline locomotives in the WSSK pool; 60039 66083 and 66183. |

Toton...
37402 and 37405 (both WNSO) have been returned to the Compound. They
have sat on the line adjacent to the paint facility for the past few weeks
from where they could have been removed by road. Evidently their transfer to
Barrow Hill has been deferred/cancelled. There has been a lot of activity in
the Yard where the stored Class 60s have been shunted around this morning,
recently overhauled 60063 (still WNWX) being utilised. It is understood that
several of the Class 60s from the Yard are to go over to the depot swapping
with several stored Class 60s that are to be moved out across to the Yard.
Noted at the end of the shunting manoeuvres this morning were 60032 60050
60060 60086 and 60088 (all WNWX) piped up together ready for transfer across
to the shed.

60039 recently despatched to Eastleigh for shunting duties has been
reinstated from WNTR to the WSSK pool whilst 60045 has been reinstated to
WCAI from WNTR at Toton. 66001 66083 and 66091 have been
stored WNTR at Toton swapping with 66105 and 66156 which are reinstated to
WBBI and WBAK respectively from WNTR at Toton while 67008 and 67016 have
been stored WNTR at Crewe EMD.
Freightliner transfer...
After being moved from Liverpool to Crewe on the 18th 70019 and 70020
(both now DFGI) they were taken across to Leeds this morning where they were
joined by 66412 (DHLT) and forwarded to York by 66531. Whilst the Class 70s
are to be commissioned at York 66412 is being prepared for shipping out for
use in Poland.
DRS transfer...
Running as 0Z26 37259 (XHSS) has hauled 47805 (XHHP) from Barrow Hill
to Crewe Gresty Bridge. There was no working conveying anything from Crewe
to Barrow Hill. |

37259 (XHSS) at Barrow Hill is showing 'normal' status indicating
that it is ready to go. It and 47805 (XHHP) should be collected shortly.
Inside the shed bodywork repairs have been underway on 37425 (XHHP) and a
repaint into DRS livery to follow.
Eastleigh paint jobs...
47813 (XHHP) is rubbed down ready for repainting, into Northern Belle
colours being mooted some time ago. 47853 (RTLO) is still in base DRS blue
awaiting the application of decals. 66742 (GBHL) is part way through its
change from Colas to GB Railfreight. 08933 is now in Mendip Rail ex EWS and
57310 (QADD) is in Network Rail Yellow, the last of the six transferred to
Network Rail to be repainted. |

Since the last look (December 2011) at the Class 60 overhaul program
ongoing at Toton 60017 and 60019 have been added to the schedule
whilst 60079 has been released into traffic. 60063 is currently done and
should be out on test any day now. March could see two, 60015 and 60059,
being released followed by 60040 60019 60010 then 60017. More Class
60s, including 60092 at Crewe DMD, will be added to the program as we progress through 2012.

increased requirement for the Class when this autumn's RHTT/sandite season
gets underway and a number of Class 60s will be repaired and returned to use
for this. 60033 (WNWX) recently returned into the shed at Toton for
attention appears to be the first of these being worked on. Aside from the
WNWX allocated Class 60s already earmarked for overhaul as listed above the
WNWX allocation also currently has 60003 60012 60021 60032 60033 60050 60060

sandwiched between 66101 and 66200. 66119 has been reinstated to the WBAK

Toton and Crewe EMD respectively and swap with 66092 and 67026 which have
been stored WNTR, again at Toton and Crewe EMD respectively.

Reportedly due a coat of DBS red 59201 (WDAK) is en route to Toton.
60039 and 66142 have been reinstated from WNTR at Toton, 60039 to the WCAK
pool while 66142 is reinstated to the WBAL pool. 67016 90029 and 92001 have
been stored WNTR at Crewe EMD but 92011 at Crewe EMD, out of use since
autumn 2010, has been reinstated to the WTAE pool from WNWX.
The WTHE HS1 Class 92 pool had generally had just one Class 92 allocated to
it of late but it now has four 92s allocated following the reallocation of
92009 92016 and 92031 from WTAE joining 92042 in the WTHE pool.
Freightliner bits...
70018 (DFGI) has now entered traffic. Bletchley derailment casualty
90046 (DFLC) was collected from Wembley at the tail end of last week and has
spent the weekend at Allely's at Studley. Consequently the system had it
down for ALYS.

20132 (HNRL) has been out-shopped in Red Stripe Railfreight Grey at

There's been a far bit of smoke about this rumour lately concerning
the potential sale of several Class 20s and Class 86s for re-use in Romania,
eight Class 20s and five Class 86s being cited. No actual numbers are
available, or confirmation for that matter, but if there is something in it
then it's a fair punt that HNRC for the Class 20s and Europhoenix for the
Class 86s will be involved...

Railway where it enters preservation. Another shunter on the road recently
is 09019 (HNRL) moved south from Barrow Hill to Burton on the 10th. It has
been indicated that veteran 08077 (DHLT) currently residing at LH Group
Services, Barton under Needwood is likely to be broken up on site at some

Tugs...
60074 has been reinstated to the WCAI pool from WNTR at Toton. The
operational fleet is also bolstered by the return to traffic of 60065 and
60079, both being reallocated to the WCAI pool from WFMU. 60099 has been
stopped at Toton though, reallocated to WFMU. Several of the Class 60s that
had been allocated to the WNWX pool when the stored fleet was revised some
weeks ago have been taken out of WNWX now, 60037 60057 60064 60069 60072 and
60077 being reallocated to the WNTS pool. Going the other way however is
60080 which has been reallocated from WNTS to the WNWX pool.

66012 has been reinstated to WFMU while 66204 has been reinstated to
the WBAI pool, both from WNTR at Toton. 66105 and 66142 have been stored

Disposals...
Two recent and one rather belated. 20032 and 20072 have been broken
up at Kingsbury and attention has turned to the scrapping of the many Class
08s currently on site at Kingsbury. It has been indicated that the plan to
move some of the Class 56s purchased to Burton is no longer the plan so
space for these at Kingsbury will have to be made. A Class 08 that has
slipped through the net is 08665 which, it has been established, was
scrapped shortly after arrival at Kingsbury October last year. 08665 was
stored from Immingham and the WSNE pool in February 2004, 20032 was stored
from Bescot and the TAKB pool back in April 1993 while 20072 last saw use
dragging coal about being stored from Toton and the WEFN pool back in
January 1992, RIP.

66119 and 66204 at Toton have been stored WNTR. 67014 at Crewe EMD,
latterly WFMU, has also been stored WNTR. 90018 has been stored WNWX at
Crewe EMD replacing 90026 which has been reallocated from WNWX to WNTR.
recently reactivated 92030 has been reinstated from WNTR to the WTAE pool.

DBS changes...
60039 has been stored WNTR at Toton being replaced by 60099 which is
reinstated to the WFMU pool from WNTR at Toton. 60079 (WFMU) has re-entered
traffic from Toton. 66250 from store/repairs at Toton has been reinstated to
the WBAK pool from WNTR. Over at Crewe EMD 67009 has been stopped and stored
WNTR swapping with 67011 which is again reinstated to the WABN pool from
WNTR. Also returning to use is 90029, released from repairs and reinstated
from WNTR to the WEFE pool. 92001 has been stopped and stored WNTR at Crewe
EMD but 92030 (WNTR) has been put back into service following attention at
Crewe.

FLOYD 5/86215, being prepared at Long Marston by for use in Hungary,
has been equipped with a second pantograph.
Bescot Grids & HTLX...
56091 (HTLX) has been collected from Bescot being taken to Washwood
Heath yesterday by 56312. 56115 and 56117 (both WNSO) have been moved up
from the yard to near the depot for removal.

reinstated to the WAAN pool from WNTR at Crewe EMD.

A notice to aeroplanes approaching Eastleigh Airport has been issued
regarding the craning out from the depot to road transport in the adjacent
Airport Car Park of Rotherham bound 58002 (WNSO) and Toton bound 58017 and
58037 (both WNTS). The lift is scheduled to take place on the 3rd. |
