being readied for transfer out by road.

Rotherham has left Carlisle and will be delivered tomorrow.
Tugwatch...
60063 is back in the main fleet being reallocated from WFMU to

also currently stopped at Toton, has also recently been transferred to
the WFMU pool.
47s on test...
Four DRS Class 47s have been out on test running from Crewe to
Chester and back today - 0Z47 being 47805 47818 47828 and 47853 (all
XHAC).

RHTT wind down...
This year's RHTT season is drawing to a close. Some diagrams end at the
end of this week whilst some reduced diagrams continue into next week
before finally ceasing. Expect a few changes to the DBS and DRS fleets,
which have been pretty much at full stretch over the past month or so.
We might even see 60092 getting to the paint facility at Toton at some
point...

Tractor delivered...
Completing its road transfer from Kingmoor to Rotherham 37417
(XHHP) arrived at Booths early this afternoon.
Tractors for repair...
Further to the recent (largely speculative) report about Class
37/4s heading to RVE at Derby for repairs some further (but still
unconfirmed) information has come to light in that it's now looking like
three 37s for repair - two for Derby and one for HNRC at Barrow Hill. It
has been mooted that 37422 might be involved which would make sense as
37683 was moved from Crewe to Derby to provide an engine. More later no
doubt...
GBNL...
GBRf have formed a new pool coded GBNL and reallocated 66747
66748 and 66749 to it from GBZZ. Subject to confirmation it is assumed
the pool is to recognise these Class 66s coming from Holland hence GBNL
for the Netherlands.
Tugwatch...
60024 is back on shunting duties at Toton and is reallocated from
WFMU back to the WSSK pool. 60059 is back from WFMU, transferred to the
WCBK pool, while 60063 is now WFMU at Toton.
Peak to Meldon...
It has been indicated that 45112 (NRLO) is to move from Burton to
Meldon (Dartmoor Railway).
Euroshed 010...
66010 at Toton has been reallocated to the WBEN pool from WBES
which indicates that it is being prepared to return to France. 66010 is
not one of the recent returnees having been operational in the UK since
summer 2011.

GBEE).
Convoy to Crewe...

in convoy from Willesden to Crewe Gresty Bridge this morning.
Sparks to Toton...
Two electric locomotives have arrived at Toton today - 90029
(WNTR) from Crewe EMD, towed in by 66041 as 0Z90 from Crewe, and 92011
(WFMU) sent back to Toton from Bescot in the 0T65 transfer with 66133
and 66129. 90029 is for a repaint whilst 92011 still requires
its tyre turning carrying out.

Re-engineering EDs...
It has been advised that five GBRf Class 73s, which one's is not yet
known, in a tie up with Network Rail, are to be re-engineered with
replacement power units. This project is understood to involve fitting
the EDs with a single 1500hp MTU unit. The Class 73 re-engineering
project on going at RVE, Derby - using 73104 and 73211, involves
the fitting of two 750hp power units to these.
92011 to Toton...
Towed from Bescot to Toton in the consist of yesterday's 6D44
working 92011 (WFMU) has been despatched from Crewe to Toton for tyre
turning. It is booked to return to Crewe shortly.
57309 and Holyhead drags...
The Holyhead drag today was handled by 57314 in the end, 57309
(XHAC) which had been in place at Crewe to work it being failed with an
ETS fault. There's only two more opportunities to get a DRS 57/3 on this
working, the Pendolino to Holyhead on Saturday's ceases to happen after
the December timetable change.
GBEE Choppers...
20096 20107 20901 and 20905 (all GBEE) returned to Barrow Hill
yesterday. The BR blue pair have been on the LU stock workings since the
transfers resumed in the autumn, the GBRf liveried doe have been swapped
over with 20311 and 20314 on a couple of occasions.
57002 on the move...
Sidelined at Stowmarket since the onset of the RHTT season and
probably Gresty Bridge bound 57002 (XHCK) has been on the move being
dragged to Wembley in convoy with 57306 47802 and 57310 from Stowmarket
yesterday afternoon.

66747 66748 & 66749...
The work required to get these three into the UK loading gauge is
in hand with the news that they are due through the Tunnel into the UK
early December. Once in the UK it has been indicated that 66747 66748
and 66749 (all GBZZ) are to go to the Midland Railway Centre to be
prepared for use in the UK. It is planned to have them in traffic by
March 2013.
DBS 90s...
Recently stored 90029 (WNTR) which is undergoing a C exam at
Crewe EMD has been scheduled to go to Toton for a repaint once its exam
is complete at Crewe. It'll be interesting if DB Schenker livery is to
be applied, as 90029 in a former guise as 90129, carried an earlier
version of DB livery being one of the Class 90s given special repaints
some years ago. 90034 (WNTS) at Crewe EMD, one of the longer term
absentees, appears to be undergoing attention with a view to returning
it to service.
WBSN update...
A couple of changes to the WBSN allocation to report. This year's
RHTT pool contingent has been the most static to date with generally the
same locomotives being allocated throughout. 66168 has been swapped out
of the pool to WBAK in exchange for 66183 which is now allocated to the
WBSN pool. 67021 has been reallocated from WBSN back to WAAN and has not
been replaced.
Tugwatch...
60099 has been released from Toton and reallocated to the WCAI
pool from WFMU.
Holyhead drag...
Providing this one can be started in the morning, in reference to
57302 last week, DRS have 57309 (XHAC) in place at Crewe for tomorrow's
Pendolino drag from Crewe to Holyhead and back.

redundant 37/4s being despatched for scrap from Kingmoor. Transfer to
Rotherham to take place by road shortly. The Glowex stock moved from
Barrow Hill to Crewe a couple of days ago went south behind 47501 today,
to Eastleigh.
Tugwatch...
60015 and 60071 are back in the active pools being reallocated
from WFMU to WCBK and WCBI respectively.

DBS change...
90029 has been stored WNTR at Crewe EMD.
59002...
Released from Crewe EMD, a little later than first advertised,
59002 (XYPO) has gravitated south from Crewe. It was at Wembley this
morning having been brought down overnight in a convoy consisting 67010
90021 59002 92015 and 92037.
Tugwatch...
There's a certain symmetry about this one - 60017 has been
returned to use and is reallocated from WFMU to WCBI swapping with 60071
which has transferred from WCBI to the WFMU pool.
56302...
With 47739 in tow as insurance 56302 (COLO) was deployed to the

DRS notes...
Three redundant Class 37/4s from Carlisle Kingmoor are likely to
be going to Booths at Rotherham for component recovery and disposal. It
is understood that the three are 37416 37417 and, depending on which
sources you go with, 37426 or 37427. All are currently allocated to the
XHHP pool at Kingmoor. Of the two 37/4s, 37402 and 37405 (both also

that it will be released early to mid December.

Eurosheds update...
66029 and 66033 (both WBEN) have been returned to France.
Europhoenix pool amendments...
Two new pool groups have been created by Europhoenix - EPEX for
locomotives for export and EPUK for UK locomotives. Reallocated to EPEX
from either EPXX or EPXS are 56086 56096 and 56117 along with 86228
86229 86234 86246 and 86251. Reallocated to the EPUK pool, again from
either EPXX or EPXS are 86231 86235 and 86242. The EPXS pool is now
devoid of an allocation whilst EPXX retains Hungary bound 86217 along
with the three demics at Crewe LNWR - 86621 86633 and 86635.
De-registrations update...
The rest of the locomotives recently de-registered have now been
identified. For completeness this report will include the six
de-registrations recorded in yesterday's update. In total nineteen
locomotives have recently been de-registered from the system, all bar
one of which, 37198, have already been scrapped. The nineteen 'ghosts in
the system' as compiled last month have now been exorcised - 56114
earlier in the month and the rest more recently. The de-registration of
these already scrapped locomotives (see table below) leaves only one
'ghost' in the shape of recently scrapped 08745 which is still allocated
to the DHLT pool...

Many thanks for letting me know the
locomotives which, subject to confirmation, have been de-registered.
(The de-registered locomotives are now confirmed - IF)
I have subsequently seen lists for the HN, MR, & TT pools and an
advise
that SDXL has no allocation. The HN, MR, & TT Pools no longer have
the locos listed and I think we can safely assume that these plus
47525 have been de-registered.
As a result Pools MRSS and SDXL have no allocation and the only
"ghost in the system" is 08745 (DHLT).
Strange to learn about a mass culling of "ghost" locos from TOPS -
has
someone in authority been reading WNXX! |

COLO Grids...

56302 undertook its mainline tests yesterday, 56051 remains at Burton.

Apparently 57302 (XHAC) wouldn't start at Crewe this morning so
the Holyhead Pendolino drag was handled by 57311.

recently. Identified so far (it has been indicated there are others that
have been or are being de-registered) as de-registered recently are

getting some of the IWCA 57/3s currently deployed to these duties to
bolster their fleet.

| An example here of how they do
things differently ''on the Continent'' with a link to a recent
picture on the excellent Railfaneurope.net website.
Taken on 21/10/12 you can see in the picture 87006 leading
another two class mates at Pirdop. An interesting picture not just
for the trio of loco liveries but also that 87006 has clearly
sustained an almighty wallop to the front end and the loco is
clearly still in use!! The headlights have been plated over but the
loco must otherwise still be in good nick!

| Green light for Oxford
to London rail line. Transport Secretary Patrick
McLoughlin has approved construction of the new £130m
Oxford to London railway line.
He signed a Transport and Works Act order allowing
train operator Chiltern to begin work on the first new
rail link between London and a major city for a century.
Construction on the new line between London
Marylebone and Oxford is due for completion in 2015. As
part of the project Chiltern will build
a new station in Bicester and a parkway station in north
Oxford.
Chiltern hopes the new rail line will also link up
with the recently announced East West Rail project
between Oxford and Bedford. |
