Several changes have taken place in the past couple of days. 60004 and 60059 have been stored, both WNTS. 60004 was initially still active following storage but has now been stopped at Toton whilst 60059 was stopped at Margam, later being dragged up to Toton. 60010 and 60054 have been reinstated from store at Toton, to WCBI and WCBK respectively. 60039 (WNTR) remains active whilst 60049, it remained in traffic, has been stored and reinstated from and back to the WCBK pool.

DRS developments...
20301 and 20306 (both XHSS) are back in traffic featuring on yesterday's charter from Huddersfield to Carlisle via the Oldham loop and Cumbrian coast. They were released from Crewe to Barrow Hill on the 28th to collect the stock to the tour. 57002 from store at Crewe Gresty Bridge has been reinstated to the XHNC pool.

08752 at Margam, repaired with a lot of parts from 09003, has been reinstated to the WSSI pool whilst 08904 recently returned to use at Wembley is now reinstated, to the WSSN pool. 09106 displaced from Wembley by 08904 has been stored WNTS at Doncaster Carr, all the 09/1 series are now in store. At Bescot 08653 (WNTS) is now available following a C exam.

In the past week or so 66015 66016 66035 66043 66047 66082 66083 66122 66182 66188 and 66200 have been returned to the WB** operational pools or to WFMU whilst 66011 66067 66074 66095 66136 66165 66166 and 66193 have been stored WNTR at Toton for exams / repairs. These changes leave DBS with 19 Class 66s allocated to the WNTR pool.

Disposal...
At long last the carcass of 20145 has been scrapped at Kingsbury. With HNRC planning a bit of a clear out of surplus locomotives the future appearance at Kingsbury of some of the Long Marston 20s is a possibility. Before becoming part of the RFS Channel Tunnel construction fleet - 20145 was numbered 2019 in the RFS fleet and 19 in the Channel Tunnel fleet - 20145 was a metals locomotive being stored from Thornaby and the FMTY pool in May 1991, a little over 18 years ago. RIP.

DRS transfer...
37688 brought 20301 20306 (both XHSS) and 47712 (XHNC) north from Eastleigh Works to Crewe Gresty Bridge today. 20301 has been overhauled and is now in the 'compass' style livery.

60021 has been stored WNTS at Toton whilst 60040 (WNTR) has now been stopped, 60039 (WNTR) is still in service. Four more stored Class 60s have been added to the WFMS allocation with the reallocation from variously WNTR or WNTS of 60054 60061 60068 and 60073 to WFMS.

Glasgow Works to Warrington Mail Terminal yesterday then on south to London today 66410 (SBXL) has joined 66403 66404 and 66405 (all SBXL) in store at Wembley PRDC.

60009 has been reinstated from store at Toton, it was in the WFMS reserve pool, in exchange for 60054 which has been returned to store, WNTR at Toton. From Crewe, after release from the EMD they were hauled over from Basford Hall on the 21st, 60041 and 60045 (both WNTR) have been moved to Toton. Looking set to follow are 60035 (WNTS) and 60043 (WNTR) which have been moved round from Crewe DMD to Crewe EMD. Over the coming weeks DBS need to reinstate 20+ Class 60s to release Class 66s for this autumn's RHTT duties.

58042 (WZFF) completed its transfer to France in the early hours of the 20th.

HNRC 37s...
Developments are afoot for two of the Class 37s currently in store at Long Marston. 37029 (ADFL) has been sold for preservation. Details regarding the buyer etc. have not been disclosed however it is advised that 37029 is to be prepared for preservation at Long Marston before going to its new home, meanwhile 37696 (HNRS) is to leave for the North East, to join the other HNRC locomotives out-based on the Wensleydale Railway.

In position for loading to road transport for shipment abroad, this is set to take place this week, Poland bound 66584 (DFHG) was hauled from Leeds Midland Rd. to Immingham yesterday.

The Class 60 fleet is now 13 strong following the reinstatement of 60021 60039 and 60054 for use by DBS Network and the storage of 60091 to WNTR at Toton. Whilst 60021 was reinstated from WNTS both 60039 and 60059 had been allocated to the WFMS pool prior to reinstatement. 60021 60039 and 60054 have assignments to return to store at the end of the month. 60009 at Toton has been reallocated from WNTS to WFMS.

37042 (WNXX) at Doncaster Carr has been taken off 'on decision', no OTMR more than likely being a factor, whilst 37669 (WNXX) is still at Bescot awaiting a tow to Toton.

Back again. 60074 has been reinstated to WCAK.

60011 has been reinstated to the WCAK pool but, proving troublesome again, 60074 has been stored WNTR at Toton. A shunt about at Crewe DMD today saw several of the stored Class 60s being brought out from the shed and, along with a number of stored Class 56s, were shunted around. 60041 and 60045 (both WNTR) have been taken round to the EMD whilst 60043 (WNTR) has been left outside on the down holding sidings.

DBS 37s...
37042 (WNXX) at Doncaster Carr is now also 'on decision' as is 37406 (WNTS) at Wigan. It is said that DBS need around seven Class 37s in traffic for the 'sandite' season. The DBS Class 37 fleet...

56311 has hauled 56114 (HTLX) from Wansford to Washwood Heath - a depot code will be needed for this place before long - where the final preparations for its return to the mainline will take place.

37419 (now WFMU) has arrived back at Toton whilst 37425 (WNTR) and 37669 (WNXX) have been on the move. Both were at Bescot this morning following transfer from Toton or Margam respectively. Crewe bound 37425 was transferred up to the ETD this afternoon with 92005 and 66161.

Tests are due to be undertaken on the Nene Valley Railway before 56114 (HTLX) is hauled to Washwood Heath for painting and release back to the mainline.

DBS 37s...
37401 37419 and 37670 (all WKBN) were brought down from Scotland yesterday to Warrington in the consist of the 6M66 working behind 92037. While 37401 and 37670, which had been utilised on the Northern Belle at the weekend, have returned to more mundane freight duties 37419 latterly at Mossend remains at Warrington allocated DEAD. It has power unit problems. At Toton 37425 (WNTS) is on a B exam, due ok in the next few days, whilst 37402 (WNXX) had been moved around to the front of the facility but is now back on the south head shunt as before. 37669 (WNXX) is still at Margam awaiting transfer.

20302 (XHSS) appears to have been removed from traffic again joining 20303 (XHSS) at Crewe Gresty Bridge, both of which are 'on transfer' status, possibly to Eastleigh.

The speculation regarding 37402 (WNXX) being a candidate for repairs at Toton appears to be the result of an erroneous entry on the system, it is still dumped, untouched, outside at Toton, whilst 37419 (WKBN) currently sidelined at Mossend awaiting a tow south *may* be in a bit of mechanical bother.

The cutting of 47370, stored by Freightliner from DFLM in January 2003 thence taking root at Ipswich, has been undertaken at Thomsons, Stockton, RIP.

37419 (now WKBN) was released from Toton last night, initially to Bescot then Warrington, before heading off towards Carlisle and on towards Scotland today, it failed at Beattock en route though. At Toton 37402 (WNXX) appears to be on repairs whilst 37669 (WNXX) at Margam has been assigned for movement to Toton. It should be noted that whilst it has been indicated that 37669 is a candidate for reinstatement it has also been indicated that it is to be cannibalised for spares.

86/7s...
Further to yesterdays notes about 86205 and 86260 being renumbered to 86701 and 86702 Electric Traction Ltd have now released pictures and details regarding this venture. From their press release which can be downloaded below...

"Constellation" AC electrics launched for spot hire. Electric Traction Ltd (ETL) is launching its first pair of overhauled Class 86 locomotives for hire. The two locomotives, now reclassified as 86/7s and numbered 86701 and 86702, have been given major exams by ETL and Europhoenix at Long Marston and recertified for 110 mph running. Both locomotives have been repainted into ETL's house colours of grey and red, and have been named "Orion" and "Cassiopeia" respectively. The pair will move to LNWR Crewe for testing and final certification next week, before being offered for trials with a number of interested operators.'

20303 hauled from Carlisle to Crewe Gresty Bridge today has now been reallocated to the XHSS storage pool. All the DRS Class 20s are now allocated to XHSS although 20302 continues to see use since being reactivated last month.

60011 at Peak Forest awaiting a tow to Toton and 60049, initially at Bescot but hauled to Toton this afternoon, have been stored, WNTS and WNTR respectively. Keeping the fleet at ten strong 60085 and 60096 have been reinstated to the WCAM and WCBM pools. 60044 dumped in Toton Yard has been reallocated from WNTR to WNTS.

66043 66046 66047 66078 66099 66115 66117 66118 66171 and 66188 have been stored WNTR at Toton whilst they receive attention / exams swapping places in the active fleet with 66009 66057 66075 66093 66098 66120 66197 and 66237 reinstated to the WB** pools. The return of 66237 leaves only 66016 languishing out of use from the first batches of Class 66s taken out of service in June and these changes leave the DBS Class 66 fleet with 23 locomotives allocated to WNTR.

Thomsons resident 47145 has now been de-registered, it was allocated to the HNRS pool.
