20309 20310 20311 and 20312 (all XHSS), the remaining four DRS Class 20s at Eastleigh, have been extracted from the Works for transfer to Crewe. At the time of writing they were en route north behind 37218.

This tender lists sees DBS releasing their last 37/0 and their remaining 37/5s and 37/7s along with all the Class 56s still on their books. This is the first time Class 60s are being offered for sale and comes as quite a surprise to some considering how long some locomotives on prior lists have been held in store before being offered for sale. The likelihood of the first Class 60s in the scrap yard or disposed of by the end of the year is now quite a probability.

08485 (WNXX) has been brought down by road from Carlisle to WCRC Carnforth. It was delivered yesterday.

92019 (WNTR) has completed its transfer from Mossend to Crewe EMD.

60054 (WNTR) has been stopped at Toton for an exam while 60059 (WFMS) has returned to traffic being taken north from Bescot to Carlisle via Crewe before heading for Scotland with the 6S51 service to Mossend this morning. 66028 (WBES) has arrived at Toton.

47828 (HNRL) has been restarted at Barrow Hill and has been engaged in shunting duties. 47813 (HNRL) should be back up and running shortly. The future *might* not be too bright for 57006 (ADFL) though following indications that it may be about to leave Heaton for Stockton.

Parts donor 60061 (WNTS) has been dug out from the scrap lines in Toton Yard and taken across to the shed to yield spares.
66028 (now WBES) has returned to the UK, it is currently at Wembley, but 66010 (WBEN) is still in France, its assignment to go to Toton taken off.
92019 (WNTR) has been brought south from Mossend to Carlisle.

HNRC notes...
Following tyre turning at Crewe LNWR 20132 (HNRS) and 20168 (HNRL) in company with 47818 (HNRL) and 20905 (MOLO) have been convoyed back across the Pennines. 20132 has been left at LaFarge as a back up locomotive whilst 20901 and 20905, also staying at LaFarge, are to be readied for RHTT work this autumn. 47818 has returned to Barrow Hill.

Disposal...
Some weeks after it was reduced to little more than the frame and two cabs at Kingsbury an end has finally been put to 47525 (SDXL). It was stored from Crewe DMD and the DHLT pool back in May 1998, RIP.

60039 has been reinstated to the WCAK pool from WNTR at Toton while 60074, stopped for repairs at Doncaster Carr, has been stored WNTR.

Eurosheds...
66010 and 66028 (both WBEN) are to be returned to the UK, both are showing allocated to go to Toton.

DBS notes...
08904 now at Toton has been stored WNYX whilst 09201, its replacement at Eastleigh, has been reinstated to the WSSN pool. 60059 (WNTR) has been stopped at Crewe EMD for attention from where 66121 has been reinstated from to the WBAM pool from WFMS.

Outs and ins...
Three locomotives have been briefly stored then reinstated in the past couple of weeks, their outage not being mentioned yet. 66140 transferred to the WFMS pool from WFMU before being returned to traffic and allocation to the WBAN pool, 66523 spent a couple of days sidelined at Leeds Midland Road transferring from DFRT to DFTZ then back to DFRT whilst 92012 has been reallocated WTAE to WNTR then back to WTAE.

434XX...
43068 and 43080 (both GCHP) at Brush Traction for MTU treatment have been renumbered into the 434XX series, 43068 becoming 43468 and 43080 becoming 43480.

Register...
08884 has been de-registered from the WNXX pool whilst 37219 and 37518 are re-registered with the MBDL pool.

The convoy, 0Z20 etc...
All went more or less to plan. 47813 and 47828 (both HNRL) have been moved up from Doncaster West Yard to Barrow Hill from where a resurrected 47818 (HNRL) took 20132 (HNRS) 20901 and 20905 (the latter two still MOLO) to LaFarge. At LaFarge 20901 has been left to cover for 20168 (HNRL) which along with 20132 has been taken across to Crewe LNWR. 20905 and 47818 then escorted 20906 from LNWR to Boden Rail at Washwood Heath before returning to Crewe.

09201 (WNYX) has been taken south from Toton to Eastleigh where it is swapping places with 08904 (WSSN) which is to go to Toton. 08920 currently at EMR Kingsbury is reported to have been sold on.

Disposal...
At Kingsbury the cutting of 08689, stored from Old Oak Common and the WSSI pool December 2007, has been undertaken, RIP.

60059 has been reinstated to the WCBK pool and yesterday and released into traffic from Toton to Whitemoor, not without incident though, as apparently part of its roof sections went missing en route to Peterborough. 60011 and 60096 (both WNTR), both stopped with oil leaks, have been moved from Immingham to Toton where 60091 has been reallocated from WNTR to WFMS. 66170 from store / attention at Crewe EMD and 66193 from store / attention at Toton have been reinstated to the WBAM pool, both were allocated to WFMS.

Disposal...
08540 has, it has been advised, been scrapped at Kingsbury 08540 was stored from Bescot and the WRWM pool in October 2004, RIP.

HNRC shunter developments...
09003 (WNXX) has been collected from Margam and transported to Washwood Heath where it is to be assessed / repaired by Boden Rail on behalf of HNRC. 09012 (WNXX) at Hither Green has been purchased by HNRC from EMR whilst 08668 08813 08869 (HNRL) and 08928 (HNRL), all currently located at Long Marston, are condemned and to be disposed of for scrap.

60009 is now allocated to the WNTR storage pool, it was in the WFMU pool, but has been despatched to Westbury for super shunter duties, things appearing to be a little too much for 08757. 60054 (WNTR) has also returned to super shunter duties in the Doncaster area, it didn't go to Toton in the end. 60010 and 60084 from store WFMS at Toton have been reinstated to the WCBI and WCAI pools respectively, a welcome return for 60084 having been absent since December last, whilst 60063 at Toton has been reallocated to the WFMS pool from WNTR. 60011 currently at Immingham and 60071 at Toton have been stored WNTR whilst 60096 (WNTR) is now at Immingham ex Toton, 60096 looks to have failed before being returned to the active fleet. 60011 and 60096 should be returning to Toton together. 66062 (WBEN) is back from European duties, at Dollands Moor yesterday it has since been brought up to Wembley for transfer to Toton. 92007 from store at Crewe EMD has been reinstated to the WTAE pool.

57001 test...
Yesterday, as a requirement for hand back to the leasing company, the mainline live test of 57001 (DFTZ) was undertaken. It was added to the front of the 4O29 Trafford Park to Southampton between Manchester and Crewe. Train locomotive 66516 was in the consist. 57001 has since been returned to Basford Hall pending developments.

67004 from store / repairs at Crewe EMD has been reinstated to the WABN pool and 66072 (WBEN) has arrived at Toton from Wembley.

37675...
Following up on the earlier conjecture that 37675 could be resold by EMR enquires have established that there is nothing happening on that front, at least not with IRE Bury, who had been rumoured to be showing an interest in it.

Disposals and Kingsbury arrivals...
At EMR Kingsbury 08543 and 58003 have been disposed of whilst 08884 (WNXX) from Bescot and 87031 (MBEL) from Long Marston have been delivered. 87031 was noted on site yesterday whilst 08884 was first observed there today. 08543 was stored from Toton and the WSMD pool in February 2004 while 58003 was stored from Toton and the WFAN pool back in November 1999, RIP.

73138 (QADD) has been released from Derby and has entered traffic heading NR test trains on the former Southern.

Shunters on the road...
Recently reinstated 08802 (WSSN) has been taken up to Mossend from Toton displacing 08405 (WSSN) which has been returned to England. 08405 was noted parked up yesterday at the North Manchester services on the M62.

Disposals...
At Ron Hulls, Rotherham 08397 acquired from the most recent DBS tender list and 37890 and 37896, both acquired from an earlier tender, have been disposed of. Information supplied indicates that they were despatched during the early part of this month. 08397 was stored from WSNW and Allerton in February 2004 whilst 37890 and 37896 were both finally stored after an increased engineering requirement saw several Class 37s being briefly returned to use in January 2005 whist allocated to the WNTA pool. RIP.

Work in progress...
At Kingsbury the scrapping of 58003 and the two Class 08s parked near a now partially stripped 56100 is underway.

92 on the road...
92040 (PTXX) has been transported by road from Brush Traction, Loughborough to (presumably) Dollands Moor being noted traversing the M42 yesterday and the M25 today en route.

DBS news...
60049 has been reinstated to the WCAI pool which increases the Class 60 active fleet to eight; 60009 60011 60013 60039 60040 60049 60071 and 60074. Waiting in the wings to return are 60010 60019 60059 and 60084 (all WFMS) while 60096 (WNTR) has been on the Sandiacre shunt duty. 66072 (WBEN) is the latest Euroshed to be returned to the UK, it was at Wembley this afternoon en route to Toton to join 66026 66029 66033 66042 66071 and 66073 (all WBEN) recently returned from mainland Europe. Deployment to RHTT duties beckons for these returned ECR Class 66s.

20315 (XHSS) was returned to Crewe Gresty Bridge from Barrow Hill last week.

One on a boat...
70007 (DHLT) has been loaded to a ship for transfer across the pond. The ship is Germany bound...

Disposal & Kingsbury notes...
58028 has been broken up already at Kingsbury. It and 58019, both delivered from Toton without bogies, were grounded on arrival at Kingsbury separate from the other locomotives on site. 87031 (MBEL), the former Tyseley resident taken to Long Marston for spares, is to be delivered to Kingsbury for scrap. 58028 was stored from Toton and the WFAN pool back in October 1999, RIP.

DBS update...
66042 (WBEN) is another Euroshed returned to the UK, noted at Toton recently, at where 60062 (WNTS), recently moved up from Margam, has been rescued from the yard and is now across at the main shed area. 60059 and 60084 at Toton have been reallocated from WNTR to the WFMS pool which now contains four Class 60s; 60010 60019 60059 and 60084. 08578 from store / repairs at Toton has been reinstated to the WSSI pool, it is now at work in the Tees Yard area, 67010 at Toton is reinstated to the WFMU pool and already active 92026 has been reinstated to the WTAE pool. These reinstatements are at the expense of 67004 and 92007, both at Crewe EMD, which have been stored WNTR. 09104 58019 and 58028 have been de-registered from the WNXX pool.

47500 is in the process of being out-shopped in standard WCRC maroon colours at Carnforth.

DBS notes...
60049 (WNTR) has taken over from 60054 (WNTR) in the Doncaster area. The latter should be transferring to Toton shortly. 60010 at Toton has been reallocated to the WFMS pool from WNTR while 66237 from store at Toton has been reinstated to the WBAM pool, it had been allocated to the WFMS pool.

Scrappers moved...
20105 (HNRS) has been transported by road from Barrow Hill to Thomsons, Stockton, it went north on the 9th, whilst 58019 and 58028 (both WNXX) have been transported from Toton to Kingsbury. Both the Class 58s were lifted from their bogies, these being retained by DBS, before departure from Toton.

08802 currently in use in the Toton area has been reinstated to the WSSN pool from WNYX at Toton. As replacement for 60054 (WNTR) which is assigned to go to Toton, Doncaster bound 60049 (WNTR) has left South Wales being taken north from Margam in the consist of the evening 6E30 service. 92026 (WNTR) was returned to normal traffic on the 5th.

DBS changes...
60040 has been in store briefly, transferring to WNTR a couple of days ago only to be returned to the WCAI pool today. 67010 has been stored WNTR at Toton swapping with 67027 which is back and reinstated to the WAAN pool following store / attention at Crewe EMD.

Freightliner notes...
08077 long term stored at LH Group Services, 08575 at Southampton and 08891 at LHGS have been reallocated to the DHLT storage pool meanwhile the cosmetic transformation of 90049 (DFLC) into a Powerhaul machine is almost complete at Crewe LNWR.

De-registrations...
Several locomotives have been struck off the system in the past few days, most from those recently sold by DBS and removed for disposal but a couple of scrapped examples have been deleted. Extant, either moved out for scrap or into preservation 08418 08528 08543 37675 56085 56088 56102 56108 56111 56127 56129 and 58016 have been de-registered from the WNXX pool, scrapped 37717 has been removed from MBDL and scrapped 47575 has been removed from the RTLS pool.

Ready to go...
At Barrow Hill the remains of 20105, one of the ex RFS Channel Tunnel hire locomotives, is being prepared for removal for disposal whilst 47813 and 47828 (both HNRL) are being readied for movement from Doncaster West Yard to Barrow Hill.

Re-listing...
The reported disposal of 47525 (SDXL) at Kingsbury has turned out to be slightly premature as it has been noted that the frame and both cabs are still languishing on site. 47525 has been re-listed as it is still with us, just.

58016...
Transferred from Crewe by road 58016 (WNXX) was unloaded into preservation at Barrow Hill yesterday evening.

57001...
Brought north from Loughborough yesterday by 66504, also being released following attention at Brush Traction, 57001 (DFTZ) has been deposited at Crewe Basford Hall. A test run is probably required before it is handed back to the leasing company.

60062...
Completing its journey from Margam 60062 (WNTS) was brought over from Doncaster to Toton this morning and has been dumped straight into the Class 60 collection in the Old Bank yard.

Shunter notes...
Firstly a correction to the last shunter report update, 08691 arrived at Maritime from Tilbury. Its move was part of a three way manoeuvre which involved 08624 (DFLS) being transported from LH Group Services to Tilbury which released 08691 (DFLS) from Tilbury to Southampton in turn displacing 08585 (DFLS) which has been taken north to LH Group services at Barton under Needwood. 09104 (WNXX) was transported from Thornaby to EMR at Hartlepool on the 4th whilst 09022 (now WSSI) evidently wasn't getting a C exam at Bescot as it has since been transported from the West Midlands down to Margam.

Disposal...
58014, stored from Toton and the WFAN pool back in November 2000, chopped into several sections at Kingsbury, is the first Class 58 to be disposed of. RIP.

08418 (WNXX), one of the two reported to be heading for WCRC, 08485 (WNXX) at Carlisle being the other, has been transported from Bescot to Carnforth. 08691 (DFLS), latterly at LH Group Services for attention, has been transported to Southampton Maritime where 08873 (MBDL) has been hired in.

Appearances imminent...
57001 (DFTZ) and 66504 (DFGM) should be released from Brush Traction at Loughborough any time now, it is thought they will be going to Crewe, meanwhile the transfer of 58016 (WNXX) by road from Crewe EMD to Barrow Hill and into preservation is set to take place shortly.

60009 from Toton and 60074 from Margam have been reinstated from WNTR to the WCBK and WCAI pools respectively swapping with 60096 which has been stored WNTR at Toton. 60049 (WNTR) has been removed from shunting duties at Westbury and has been taken in convoy with 66097 and 59201 to Margam. 66029 (WBEN) has arrived at Toton from Wembley whilst 66079 and 66103 (both WFMS) have been moved over from Toton to join the others at Crewe EMD.

DBS notes...
At Toton 08909 (WNYX) has been brought back out from the Compound swapping with 58028 (WNXX) which has been returned to the Compound from the loading pad area adjacent to the paint shop. This would imply that this and 58019 (WNXX) awaiting transfer to Kingsbury are to be moved over later rather than sooner.
59203, currently in store at Crewe EMD, has been reallocated from WNTR to the WFMS pool whilst 59206 has been reallocated from WCAI to a new pool coded WDAI for Class 59s in use with the Industrial arm of DBS.
Another new pool that has appeared is WBST to which 66001 and 66019 had briefly been allocated to before being reallocated back to the WFMU pool. WBST is for DBS Class 66s on sandite duties but trip cock fitted. The WBST allocated Class 66s are to be utilised this autumn on the RHTT duties that pass over the LU Metropolitan line. A duty formerly covered by the Chiltern Railway's DMUs.
92005 has been returned to traffic and reinstated to the WTAE pool following attention at Crewe EMD swapping with 92026 which is now stored WNTR at Crewe EMD.

Shunter notes...
08543 (WNXX) has been identified as the Class 08 despatched from Bescot to Kingsbury at the end of last week. 09022 (WSSN) has been brought up to Bescot by rail from Hams Hall, it is due a C exam, whilst 08511 (TTLS) has been delivered to the Colne Valley Railway from Felixstowe via tyre turning at Wembley. 08511 is to be repainted.

Disposal and potential re-sales...
The scrapping of 47525 is completed at Kingsbury and attention has turned to the dismantling of 58014. Rumours of re-sales continue to circulate with I Riley Engineering at Bury being the potential buyer of 37675 whilst WCRC appear to be having 08418 and 08485, currently residing at Bescot and Carlisle respectively. 47525 was stored from Crewe and the DHLT pool back in May 1998, RIP.
